** BULGARIA. 7290, July 17 at 1827, I check out how IRRS hour in
English is doing via Secretbrod, into UTwente SDR: dead air! except
for 7291 warble, 7280 splash and humroar on own carrier; but song
modulation cuts on once a minute for 5-10 seconds at 1827, 1828, 1829,
1830, 1831, 1832 --- enough of that; time for lunch. 1859 recheck
still DA, but 1900 brief ID and off. What programming was defeated?
Glad it would not have been WOR. Tried to check website,
https://www.nexus.org/member-services/radio-and-tv/schedules/
but blocked by two browsers as Not Secure (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 17 at 1336: none in the WOOB 13s or
12s, tho S Korean CWs propagating and audible below 13 MHz. 11200
S2-S4 Chinese, 10960 JBA.

At 1346: 9180 Chinese; stronger 9260 S5-S7 this one with fast SAH from
victim, SOH? also 9215 JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Sporadic E MUFs are mostly tantalizingly just below 88 MHz
FMBC band. Unfortunately, I don`t have a decent lowband TV Ch 2-6
antenna and rotor, so I am missing DTVDX and maybe some analog left
from Latin or Canadian America; 6 meters may be open too, but a few
chex for beacons there have not succeeded, as all I have is my
longwire mainly for HF and MF. That leaves the 10m hambeaconband,
after first finding CB such as 27025 hopping with hetty pileups:

28217.5, July 17 at 1419, VVV DE K4PAR/B, and fades. WJ5O shows:
``28.2175 K4PAR ? EATONTON, GEORGIA # ?,? un-coordinated 28 May 19
reported by Richard SWL``. See my recent report already heard;
``K4PAR USA flag USA, DOUGLAS S BARKER, PIEDMONT ARES LLC, 816 Oak St,
EATONTON, GA 31024`` per QRZ.com lookup
Eatonton is SE of Atlanta, forms a triangle with Athens.

28214, July 17 at 1422, VVV N4PAL --- rest of msg mentions QSL:
``28.214 N4PAL C LONGWOOD, FLORIDA # 5W, VERTICAL NEW 15 Dec 07``
Longwood is just north of Orlando.

PROPAGATION BEACON "ON AIR"

One of the many things I do to help the amateur radio hobby is to
operate and maintain a "propagation beacon" station using a FCC
approved Amateur HF Transmitter for [CW].

There are many such stations located around the world that are
operated by other amateur radio operators. Simply stated: A
propagation beacon station constantly transmits a signal using morse
code (CW) on a specific frequency. If an amateur radio operator or
short wave listener hears a beacon coming from another part of the
world it usually means that they can either hear, or in the case of an
amateur radio operator talk to, stations operating from the same area
as the beacon they monitored.

Join in on the fun of running a propagation beacon.

** U S A. 9330, July 17 at 0639, WLCR via WBCQ-6 is OFF again. (No
9333 carrier either now); still off at 1345. What`s wrong? Still
nothing about it from AW twits, other than vague comment latest:

``Allan Weiner @AllanWBCQ ? Jul 16 --- Another day of radio work here
at the shortwaves station WBCQ. From antenna maintenance to
transmitter repair. From roof work to field mowing there?s always much
to do at WBCQ. 9330/7490/6160/5130khz are the free speech spots on
your dial. Fixing the 780khz AM transmitter.``

Is he back in ME now or still in FL? Can`t tell. Maybe he will impart
some info on tonight`s AAAWWW; please monitor, 00-01 UT Sat on 7490+
and maybe some of the others, or webcasts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Fri July 17 at 1348, WRMI-3, `Viva Miami` --- this
time it`s really in Spanish, Jeff & Tha?s chatting about Florida, a
visit to almost vacant Orlando; big turtles on the beaches; and
acknowledging reception reports, some from non-SS countries, such as
Jap?n; did they really write in Spanish? Postal address remains
6-figure box in Miami; I`d think that would be inconvenient for the
Okeechobeeans to check.

Once again, 9955 does not go off* at 1400 but continues with `Freedom
Synergy Radio`, first item about Hong Kong situation, in English;
still going at 1417 but off after 1430. However, System B sked shows
FSN webcast only for a full hour at 1400-1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 17775-, July 17 at 1345, KVOH on early with song/hymn, S8
and undermodulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Level 1-2 tropo William Hepburn forecast around this part of
OK, KS, July 17 at 1500 UT, and I bandscan starting at 1525: most open
UHF channels, 20-36 have at least a Bad signal and several of the OKC
channels are not decoding due to DX QRM. Also RF ch 6 Bad despite no
apropos antenna, presumed KBSD Ensign=Dodge City KS.

A few do decode so I explore their subs: Derby=Wichita KS:

RF 31: 31-1 KDCU-DT Spanish; 31-2 Grit; 31-3 Escape=Mystery; 31-4
Laff; 31-5 Court.

Two from Tulsa:
RF 34: 41-1 KMYT-TV; 41-2 GetTV; 41-3 GritTV: 41-4 HNI
RF 22: 23-1 KOKI-TV; 23-2 MeTV; 23-3 EscapeT [sic]=Mystery

All these lineups match W9WI.com listings (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, July 17 at 2314, WBCQ-6 is still off but there is that
curious JBA carrier on 9333; no signals on 5130 or 6160v, only noisy
7490v, as I am assessing the situation in hour prior to AAAWWW.

Area 51 webcast at 2357 mentions ``slack`` several times, as in `Hour
of` ? And about anal-retentiveness.

7490 webcast I switch to at 0000 UT Sat July 18 just as WTO theme is
starting; by 0003 A&A opening as he always helps his sweetheart to
adjust her microphonium; and right into politix which I don`t need to
hear.

At 0004 recheck the A51 webcast and find it also running AAAWWW but
several seconds delayed. Spotchex follow: at 0015 A51 is playing a
song, so no longer with AAAWWW, where the lovebirds are still talking
on 7490 webcast. At 0018 annoying Freddie has called; altho he has
several Black friends, he doesn`t like this BLM stuff.

0023 back on A51, music, what is this? DJ talking about formerly on
WZAK in Canton OH, after a bunch of country/drinking songs.

0048 on 7490 webcast, AW mentions ``9330 is down, with *another*
transmitter problem``, but no further details, not now anyway.

At 0051, while AW is trying to read e-mail, Freddie is still on the
phone interrupting with signal reports, including 5130 as 20 over S9,
and as if AAAWWW is axually on it, so I check SW frequencies here:

At 0054, 5130 is buried in noise but I can tell it is AAAWWW, not the
music on the A51 webcast. 6160- is also audible, weaker than 7490.

0100, 7490 webcast, AAAWWW wraps up just in time for Hal Turner
theme.

0217, A51 webcast is still running with music so I listen again for a
while. DJ says this show is all-beer songs and back-announces a number
of titles; in a six-week theme series, last week wine, next week
marijuana, so put in your requests now to Zombo`s Record Party on FB,
but this show is pre-recorded not live.

IIRC, Zombo has appeared on WBCQ before, and he does mention WBCQ
among other stations, but his name is not to be found on the WBCQ
website schedule, nor even the Archive. Was on WZAK Canton at 4 am;
also had been on WAPS; and did one --- only one --- show for KAOS on
the west coast; finally ``This is WRCT 88.3, Zombo In Your Brain``.
That`s a free-form station in Pittsburgh PA, and such a show is
scheduled Fridays 10 am-1 pm EDT = 14-17 UT:
http://www.wrct.org/show/897/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15810, July 17 at 2244, open carrier S9-S7. Presumably
WTWW-3 rarely turned on, test? Anyone hear programming earlier today?
Too bad it`s too late to compare with neighbor 15825 WWCR which has
already QSYed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
