Attached is a report on the November KSEN 1150 kHz DX Test from Montana. It was
one of the most widely heard DX test in decades with receptions spanning the
globe. It was also reported in virtually every part of North America. Thanks to
KSEN, Paul Walker for arranging the test, and Joe Miller, KC80 for designing
the QSL card and handling verifications.

As we went to press, we received a late report and QSL report as well which is
included below:

?

I would like to report my reception of KSEN from November 8th on 1150 kHz. My
best reception came at 0238-0239 EST when I heard Morse code and the sweeping
tones. At no time did I hear any voice announcements. There were four other
stations on 1150 kHz which were causing interference, which included WCUE,
CKOC, WHBY, and WIMA. This is #1 from Montana from my home in Sterling Heights,
Michigan.

** ALBANIA [non]. 5850, Saturday January 16 at 2300, WRMI is OFF;
while on Thursday we had R. Tirana relay VG; secret airing when it
happen, not on the WRMI skedgrid. Tirana programs in English
supposedly occur 6 days a week except Sundays; I had just heard it
ending at 2300 on 7780 before WOR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13562 approx., Jan 17 at 1519, S4-S5 FMish spurblob from
S9+10/20 RHC 13700.0-AM at, at ~69 kHz intervals today while
first-order circa 13631 is S6-S7. Also on plus side, 13769 but much
stronger than 13838. So the regular spurblob-producing transmitter is
back instead of the weaker off-frequency-minus one. But earlier today
these reports:

Wolfgang B?schel: ``At 1318 UT noted the odd frequency fail
transmitter at Bauta (tx #2nd of total six transmitters at Bauta site)
on 6099.908 kHz``

Ivo Ivanov: ``Radio Habana Cuba on very odd frequency 13700v kHz,
January 17 from 1355 on 13699.8 BAU 100 kW / 310 deg to WNAm Spanish,
ex 13700. 13700 kHz is scheduled in B-20 RHC 1400-1600, but off air at
1405 UT`` --- so after that they changed transmitters and came back on
as 13700 also heard by Ivo on remotes after 1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GERMANY [and non]. 9670, Jan 17 at 0040, Channel 292 publicized to
stay on air all-night; no good direct, but via NE USA SDRs, poor rock
and fast SAH; 0059 ID as OHR Radio. Not a good idea to confront
co-channel CNR1 jamming and/or VOA Tibetan via Thailand until 0100,
then switching to RFA Tibetan via Tajikistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 7570, Sat Jan 16 at 2327, WRMI with classical piano
music --- yes, it`s a new airing of `Encore`, news to us as well as to
Brice; VG here on the 315-beam. But this does now show on the WRMI
skedgrid so maybe it`s not just a fluke/temp. However, the 0100 UT
Sunday airing on 7780 is pre-empted(?) by ``KTMS``. What about 5850,
did I miss checking the usual //? Next encore is UT Mon 03-04 on 5950
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565-CW, Jan 17 at 1519, JBA signal of 1.8-milliwatt HIFER
beacon, K6FRC in Patterson CA; fortunately today`s spurblobs from RHC
13700 are at ~69 kHz intervals, second-order landing just far enough
away circa 13562 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2069 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
January 16 starting at 2036 on WA0RCR, the Gateway 160 Meter Radio
Newsletter, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG via local KB0FX SDR.

Also confirmed Sat Jan 16 at 2240 the new 2230 airing on WRMI 9955,
good S9+20 direct with no jamming heard; at 2258 via Bonaire SDR,
S6-S9 above lite jamming.

Also confirmed Sat Jan 16 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, immediately following
R. Tirana relay, S9/+15 at UTwente, Holland SDR.

Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 17 at 0434 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, about 27
minutes into, so started early circa 0407, S9+10/30 vs high local
noise level. Next:

2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE
1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [to resume?] to SSE
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW [still needs confirmation]
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn
Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, UT Sun Jan 17 at 0100, S7/S9+10 via Maine SDR, WRMI
with a minute of beeps, music box IS, and special broadcast of
``KTMS`` instead of `Encore`; 0106 ID claims to be country music, but
seems mixed with other genres, 0123 ``Wichita Lineman`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR) WRMI: see also ALBANIA [non]; SCOTLAND [non]

** U S A. (5085), UT Sun Jan 17 from 0129, not even trying WTWW-2 on
distorted, monophonic SW, rather $tereo webcast to find `Theater Organ
Under The Arch`, ``all George Wright`` recordings instead of Bob Heil
himself; segu?s, no announcements until penultimate wrapup at 0157,
finishing at 0201, as usual always slightly beyond 30 minutes (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9366.5-USB, Jan 17 at 0047, 2-way in Spanish poor, while
31m broadcasters are just about dead, even RHC, WRMI and WBCQ (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Apologies all. Paul Walker pointed out that I was confused about our DX Test
sequence and needed to correct my report.

Attached is a report on the November KSEN 1150 kHz DX Test from Montana. It was
one of the most widely heard DX test in decades with receptions spanning the
globe. It was also reported in virtually every part of North America.

Thanks to Todd Clark, KSEN, Paul Walker for arranging the test, and Joe Miller,
KC80 for designing the QSL card and handling verifications.

This is #1 from Montana from my home in Sterling Heights,
Michigan.
