** CHINA [and non]. 11590, March 8 at 1604, Firedragon music jamming
audible but underneath Chinese, i.e. RFA via TINIAN, adding up to

can do better with a loud & clear signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15140, March 8 at 2045, RHC English seems apolitical at the
moment, but as I was dozing off in nap before 2100 French I think
there was something about Russia. Anyhow, The Other side:
``Russia-Ukraine War --- Castro's support for the invasion of Ukraine
will aggravate shortages in Cuba
The international sanctions against Russia will not only affect Cuba
in terms of tourism, but also as regards loans and collaboration in
industry and transportation.
Roberto ?lvarez Qui?ones, Los ?ngeles 03 Mar 2022 - 16:56 CET
Ra?l Castro and Vladimir Putin. AP [caption]
Cubans are greatly ashamed that their country has been dragged as a
State, by the Castroist dictatorial mafia, into line with the new
imperial czar of "all the Russias", Vladimir I (with the same imperial
aspirations of Ivan IV, or Peter the Great) in his invasion of
Ukraine. It is as if in September 1939 the government of Federico
Laredo Bru (controlled by Batista) had shown solidarity with Hitler
when he invaded Poland and unleashed the most devastating war in
history.
Flying in the face of all reason, given its location in the heart of
the West, and its culture, Raul Castro has placed Cuba on the wrong
side. In doing so, the dictatorship has betrayed Cubans, Latin America
and the West, and has isolated Cuba in a move that evokes the betrayal
perpetrated by Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Finland when, together
with Fascist Italy, they sided with Nazi Germany...``
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1646322970_37850.html
May I suggest that any editors who find the above too off-topic to
publish, at least retain the headline and the link.
Anyhow2, also a reason to remind that due to the imposition of stupid
DST March 13, as a running dog of Yanqui Imperialism, Habana goes from
UT-5 to UT-4, affecting most of their SW timings, causing
consternation abroad where the clox are not, yet wrecked. Thus begins
a Biweek of Confusion until March 27 when most of Europe change their
clox and not coincidentally the A-22 SW season begins, prompting
further time and/or frequency changes; but Cuba usually takes another
week or two to decide what to do; while Mexico, Australia and NZ don`t
adhere to either date. Anyhow2, the first RHC English hour of the day
traditionally moves one UT hour earlier to 19-20 UT but stays on same
frequency, subject to usual switching and/or feed errors.

seconds late. Something`s always egregious at Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** U S A. 15770, Monday March 7 at 2034, checking WRMI reception: MUF
at 12 MHz at Nizhni Novgorod no good; S7-S9 into UTwente during BBB
nonsense; good S9/+15 into PEI remote, better than direct to here way
off the side of the NE beam from Okee. I`m preparing for WRMI`s new
relay of VOA webcast-only `Flashpoint Ukraine` at 2105-2130, so I
stick with PEI.
A crowdfunding campaign bought the WRMI time, since VOA refuses to air
this program on any of its scores of SW transmitters! See
https://fundrazr.com/radiowaves?ref=ab_4cROT3YnWyI4cROT3YnWyI
apparently headed by one Kate Neiswender, Esq., Lake Arrowhead, CA,
US.
Relay starts at 2100 with VOA News, the YL caster admitting at closing
that she`s remote. Isn`t it about time to reopen the VOA Newsroom
safely?
`FPUK` in 25 minutes has a broad roundup of stories from within and
without Ukraine, including outsourced from AP and Reuters. It may seem
inadequate for those of us watching MSNBC & CNN wall-to-wall. And
it`s
M-F only: as we all know, nothing ever happens on Sat/Sun. Anchor
Steve Miller says from next week, March 14, time for it will advance a
sesquihour to 1935 UT -- obviously 60 minutes of it due to imposition
of EDT instead of EST, irrelevant abroad. Can WRMI accommodate that? I
asked Jeff and he says they shall, 1935 still on 15770.
Miller utters ``ya/know`` over and over in an interview, as bad as
Christiane Amanpour. He never mentions this being on SW now, unlike
Steve Herman, W7VOA who twitted about it. For USAGM, SW is a low-
priority almost-obsolete ``platform`` of possible use in the wilds of
Africa.
Last story at 2126 is about a cameraman who was killed when the Kyiv
TV tower was hit, altho it did not collapse. By now the signal via
PEI is fading down; as at 2130 WRMI reverts to R. Prague in French.
R. Prague International was sacrificed for this but still has these
other times on WRMI in English, per skedgrid: 1300/1200 except Sundays
on 9955; daily 2330 on 5850; 0130 Tue-Sat on 5800; 0400/0300 daily on
9955; 0400 daily on 5800. Double/times with a slant refer to airings
on Systems with an upcoming DST change. RPI is of course another
station refusing to do any SW itself (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
