Subject: [HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs January 7-8-9, 2024

CUBA. 6000, Jan 8 at 0450, RHC English is S9+30/40 but JBM,
sup/torted, at least providing the plus/minus parasitic spur carriers,
much weaker but significant. Meanwhile, David Crawford who trax RHC
activity much more closely, replied at 0108 Jan 8 to a previous report
of mine:

``I wouldn't put much faith into _any_ RHC schedules just now. Some
late summary obs:

Current RHC working tx count as of this evening at 0030 Z (local Sun 7
JAN) appears to be:
Bauta - 2
Quivic?n - 1 RHC; 2 CRI reserved
Bejucal - 0 (none heard since July 2023)

[follow-up at 0118: ``Right on cue, 6000 RHC ENG came up with the +/-
10 kHz about the time I hit send, and 15230 is still on, so update
Quiv RHC tx count to 2 above``].

At Quivic?n:

On 6 Jan local evening, RHC Quiv was noted 2300 Z on 6000, no useful
modulation, and RHC POR on 15230. 6000 pulled the plug just before
0000Z and there was no ENG program aired after.

On 7 Jan local evening, CRI Quiv 5990 and 13650 were up
simultaneously, and RHC SPA was on 15230 during the 23 Z block, with
very low modulation; 6000 was completely missing. After 0000Z, 5990
and 15230 remained on, but still no 6000.

So, 6000 evening ENG has been missing at least couple of days now. I
haven't checked morning 6000/15230 in a few days, though they were
both reliably active as of a few days ago.

At Bauta:

15140 disappeared about 3 weeks ago; it was the "squealer" tx and was
used at times on 11760 or 11670 also. Since then 11760 has been the
prime daytime freq with the "good 25 m" tx that was previously shared
with the HM01 spook. HM01 remains unheard since October.

RHC was active on 11760 most of the afternoon 7 Jan. I wasn't around
to check for the Radio Havano Cubo ESP Sunday program at 1600 Z. It
was active with ARA at 1800 Z, HAT 1830 Z, 19-20 Z unmonitored, ENG
2000 Z, FRA 2100 Z, then it pulled the plug abruptly at 2123ish. 11760
came back around 2235 with SPA, with 9710 also found already up at
that time. 9710 then dropped off around 2353Z, while 11760 continued,
and is still on at 0105 Z.

Some days lately 11760 has been pulling the plug, seemingly randomly,
early afternoon, leaving no RHC anywhere until the 2200 Z SPA block.
Or, they may keep it active all afternoon instead.

9710 and 11760 had been showing up consistently for the morning SPA
block as of a few days ago.

For the national stations, 5025 Bauta remains off, 4765 remains on as
of 6 Jan. 4765 was "professionally DFd" to Bauta, but doesn't seem to
correlate with any major full site outages at Bauta when they
occasionally happen; the tx sites are relatively close together for DF
purposes, so it may indeed be at the usually-listed Bejucal.

So, the general trend of deterioration continues. Will the CHICOMs or
Putkin fly in some techs and fix everything, or will RadioCuba finally
run RHC SW to complete and permanent failure?

** CANADA. 15034 USB, Jan 9 at 2030 UT as I happen to tune by Trenton
Military with ID and ``time: 1530 zulu``! Still confuses EST with UT.
And still ``no report received`` from anything, altho I cannot be
positive about that without listening to an entire cycle, beyond my
patience. Both reflect poorly on Canadian Forces - perhaps to fool
enemies into thinking they are incompetent in other more serious ways?
Charitable (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHILE. 28474 USB, Jan 9 at 2307, CA3VAK, Victor from a town 17 km
south of Santiago making quick English contacts in USA unheard here as
skip is long; no beacons and only a few other 10m phone signals, in
Spanish or Oz accent: 28480, 28495, 28410. Not much at QRZ.com, not
even address but a photo implying he`s a biker: `` CA3VAK Chile flag
Chile,
V?ctor M. Ar?nguiz M., Santiago, Chile`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 11830, Jan 9 at 2040, I finally find some music-only on SW
to lull my nap without talkiness -- it`s Firedragon! At times seemed
with a whining voice but surely that was only an instrument; lots of
percussion too, zzz. But chops off abruptly at 2100*, never any
announcement or timesignal. And no trace of a jamee, per Aoki, RFA
Chinese via Tinian this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 9 at 2039, JBA S4/S7 seems English, so RHC, but
must be on extremely reduced power as prop is OK, Mart? blasting in.
At 2100 in French I can barely outmake an Havane mention. Something`s
always wrong at RHC. Nothing of course where should be, 15140 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 15420, Jan 9 at 2032, S9+10/20 in language is OOFSOB =
one of few signals on band, and one of the best. Listed as AWR via
Talata in Yoruba this semihour, i.e. aimed NW moreorless thisaway
beyond (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 13710-, Jan 9 at 2036, S4/S6 significantly
off-frequency minus. Listed as MWV in Arabic this hour via Mahajanga,
so probably favorably beamed NW thisaway beyond; but Talata is better
on 15420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11514.9, Jan 9 at 2038, JBA carrier direct, no doubt
Hikari FM, Sonora or Arizona pirate on signature off-frequency. Does
any remote pull it well enough to copy? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 9635, Jan 9 at 0806, ORTM, S6/S9 in African language,
presumably Bambara, best/only? African signal on band. Is day
frequency scheduled 08-18 UT, preceded and followed by 5995 which is
very reliable from 0600 but just about faded by 0800 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Jan 9 at 2300, VOT not off the air,
S9+20/30 direct and sufficient. The well-spoken YL signs on and starts
the news, mainly about Gaza and Israel accused of killing 109
journalists so far. By 2356 check at UTwente, it`s already off ceding
frequency to XJPBS, std denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2224 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday January 9 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9 into Maryland remote way
off-beam from SW aiming out of FL, yet much better than closer remote
in GA, or closer to azimuth, Durango2, M?xico. Again with uteblast QRM
at start, which infests 7780 exactly every semihour.

Also confirmed Tuesday January 9 at 1409 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, S9+25.
Next:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB
1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB
[previous #2223][SW suspended but still streamed?]
1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but reconfirmed Jan 3]
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this
week to Chris Krug, KC5IIE, Tulsa OK, for a contribution via PayPal,
in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com and says, ``I
very much appreciate all the hard work and dedication, Glenn! SWL is
alive and well thanks to your efforts. Happy 2024!``

One may also contribute via MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9275, Jan 9 at 2029, zero signal from WMLK, tho neighbor in
more ways than one, 9265 WINB, is quite audible. Had been meaning to
check 9275 explicitly for some time during nominal 17-22 UT schedule
except Sabbathdays. 9275 also missing at my last check Wed Dec 27.
Last log was by Wolfgang Bueschel, Dec 18: ``9275even, WMLK Bethel PA,
symphonic christmas mx and chimes, at 2159 UT, S=9+40dB much
POWERHOUSE signal, excellent radio investition {sic} in USA in recent
years. From mainpower some audio BUZZ strings visible on 120, 240, and
360 Hertz apart distance.`` No trace of it either lately for foolish
15150 overnighttime transmission.

Via WOR Hitlist, nothing posted on their disgraced FB since Feb 2023!
Own website: https://wmlkradio.com/ mentions no outage now, but the
`live` stream runs even at 2330 when never on SW air. WMLK really
should be back by Jan 15, but that would be coincidental as it does
not stand for Martin Luther King; rather some religious cult word,
probably Hebrew or Aramaic, but cursory research has not found it, nor
anything on the website. Of course I have no interest in what DEJOM
had to preach nor his successor. = Deceased Elder Jacob O Meyer.
Unless it come back, will be DWMLK, as FCC names deleted callsigns
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9265, Jan 9 at 2111, WINB with revival music but then
announcing several stations the program is on including WINB on 13570
- where it has not been for ages, Tuesdays at 3-5 pm. If a ministry
can`t even cite its own frequency accurately, how are we to believe
their imaginary theology? Tough copy with rumbling modulation, but
contact info sounds like area code 712; apostolicfaith---something.com
Postal address ZIP NJ 08066, which is Paulsboro, so I stick that in
the website - bingo, this is it:
https://www.apostolicfaithofpaulsboro.com/radio-broadcasts/
I recognize some of the other calls mentioned, like WTMR; also claims
to be on World Harvest Radio, webcast at least, but link is unfound.
2113 back to revival singing with piano. Finally I check the WINB
program schedule, just updated Jan 7! But that doesn`t mean it`s
accurate, even beyond still converting UTC to EDT instead of EST, 4
instead of 5 hour difference. Not there around this time (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1580, Jan 9 at 0836 UT, 10/kHz bandscan hears ``104.5`` in
English and absolutely nothing more vs Spanish music from something
else, probably KFCS CO again. Reverse search of WTFDA FM Database for
any 104.5 relaying a 1580 station leads only to: WIOL Columbus GA, the
FM being, of course, a mere 250-watt translator, W283DF. Then I
laboriously look thru each of the 48 entries on 1580 in the paper NRC
AM Log, which agrees --- but find one other, W283BN, tail wagging the
dog of WWDN, Danville VA, but it`s a 1 kW ND daytimer, while WIOL is
ND 1 kW day/45 watts night. Now which would be less unlikely? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
