anti-paper-QSL, anti-FT8, illustrating antennas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 28548 USB, Jan 17 at 2316, CQDX from PY3PZ - fonetek for Y

** CHINA. 15340, Jan 17 at 1633, W&M dialog in Chinese, S9+5/25, the
SSOB except for 15825 WWCR splatterer. Same on 11600 S9/+5; 11670
S8/S9; and 11715. All CNR1 jammers vs unheard targets per Aoki: 15340
Sound of Hope, Taiwan, relaying RFA; 11600 SOH but supposedly only
until 1600, then TOMBS/Bulgaria; 11670 VOA Philippines in Tibetan;
11715 SOH (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, Jan 17 at 1639, S7/S9 of dead air in Spanish from R
Habana Cuba, where something is always wrong. Still nothing on 15140
or anywhere else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** EGYPT. 9440, Jan 17 at 2155 amid the R. Cairo English sesquihour,
no signal into UTwente. Something`s amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK,

direct into reelout, preview topic to be interview with a Balearic
professor about RSA`s charge that Israel is committing genocide (Glenn

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Jan 17 at 2309, VOT not off the air,
S9+20/30 direct in news; next check into UTwente, S9+25/35 when
measured, 2348 multi-lingual ID filler reel; 2351 s/off as if this
were the 1330 on 13635; fragment of IS and off before 2352*. Before
trying 5960 I tuned 9610 in case VOT were overrunning there instead;
JBA algo, must be something else: Aoki shows CNR8 in Mongolian,
Beijing 491 site at 2100-0100, so TRT collides with that even before
its supposed 2226 close (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 329 MCW kHz, Jan 17 at 0753 UT, PMV, 25-watt NDB at

** U S A. 15825, Jan 17 at 1635, WWCR-1 is horribly overmodulated,
distorted again, S9+30 and splattering 15710/15860 approx. I had
reported it fixed back to normal as of Jan 5. Lou Johnson reported Jan
14:
``Announced on AskWWCR last night --- Brady Murray said the bad audio
on 6115 (and other frequencies) was due to a bad fiber optic cable.
Also other problems at their transmitter building was a roof leak over
a transmitter that was not on the air at the time. And they discovered
a burnt pole supporting a transmission line that they determined was
caused by lightning! So, I guess they're on top of it, at this point!
Lou KF4RCA Atlanta`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, WTWW: George McClintock informs me early UT Jan 17:
off the air tonight and last night, due to extreme cold circa 0 F in
Nashville, power outage and then water in some facility froze - I
think he was referring to transmitter cooling system. Hopes to be back
on by Jan 18, but still not by 2359 Jan 17 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 17 at
