** CHINA [and non]. 21800, Jan 22 at 2313, S9 but weakish Chinese,
must be CNR1 jammer against Sound of Hope on its very highest
frequency as wb often outpoints. Only other 13mb signal is weaker
21530.065 JBA carrier, in this case may really be SOH, Miaoli, Taiwan,
lacking a jammer since it`s so far off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA [non]. See FRANCE 9490

** FRANCE. 9490+, Jan 22 at 0419, S9 of dead air, little if any
jamming. Must be TDF not yet turned off after RMI R. República relay,
always askew on high side but not remeasured now. HFCC registered as
0100-0200 & 0200-0300 both daily, also EiBi as 01-03 daily. Aoki shows
the second hour extension applies only on days 1267 = UT
Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. I think this correct, or used to be but not rechecked
lately.

WRMI skedgrid lines 441 & 442 show both on days 7123456, i.e. every;
yet start/end dates differ: At 01-02: 291023 to 051123, but 02-03:
061123 to 300324. So that implies it`s always only one hour, but
shifted one UT hour later with the end of DST in USA and the Running
Dog of Yanqui Imperialism, Cuba.

So, Jan 23 from 0153 monitoring 9490 into Maryland and Florida SDRs:
nothing yet, but *0156 jamming starts! *0159 R.R. carrier on with the
real Cuban NA and s/on, `Recuentro Informativo` totally overriding
jamming. The two SDRs can`t agree how far off-frequency, Florida
+78-95 Hz, or Maryland +51-67 Hz. But that indicates the transmitter
is axually fluxuating some 16/17 Hz up and down.

Would you believe than own website https://www.radiorepublica.us/ has
nothing about WRMI, 9490, nor any radio, just podcasts with up-to-date
entries?! Likewise, https://www.directorio.org/radio-republica/

Careful, if you search without democratico you`ll wind up in
non-democratic Cuba itself, like https://www.directoriocubano.info/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1640 kHz, Jan 22 at 2315 UT, KZLS Enid is still
off the air, unknown why. Observing DX logs from Europe and NZ, I
daresay that our KZLS is the least-heard USA on 1640 -- because unlike
most of them ND, KZLS is NNW/SSE day and night, i.e. shooting for the
much huger OKC market, and from a site east of Hennessey, much closer
to OKC than other ``Enid`` MW stations. But that should advantage it
for DX to Latin America, unLatin Alyaska.

Just before 0200 UT Jan 23, I monitor KCRC 1390 for legal ID break in
Fox Sports Radio: sure enough, imagines both stations, KZLS first,
KCRC second! What do they know?

BTW, WTNI 1640 Biloxi MS used to give KZLS or whatever it used to be
called, trouble even here in Enid, suspected of 10 kW ND day power at
night, but have not heard it in a long time and find no other reports
of it since September. What`s with that? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN [and non]. 17755, Mon Jan 22 at 1629, no signal direct from
REE; beamed south for Africa, always the worst signal here, but should
be detectable. Presumably off, something not right at Noblejas.

Other TA signals are normal on 17850, 17880. REE`s other frequency,
17715 for SAm, is not starting until *1900 weekdays, but 17755 is
supposed to start at *1600 weekdays. So REE is now audible only on
12030 for ME, S7/S9 off the back. 9690 for NAm will not be on either
until *1900 weekdays.

Oh2! EiBi shows 17775, NOT 17755! At outset of B23 season there was
confusion about that, maybe REE itself typoed. By 1725 I do detect VP
17755 JBA direct, NOT 17775. Furthermore, there is a het about
17755.6, maybe local birdie? Checking TWR RSA remote at 1730
timesignal, 17755 is VG but with a squeal, which implies the het be
self-imposed.

Aoki does show correct 17755 for REE, not 17775, but would you believe
it still has three entries there for defunct KVOH? Long before it
crashed completely, KVOH quit using 17775 at all, years ago.

HFCC lists correct 17755 for SPAIN, not 17775: but on 17775 it does
have an imaginary entry for WRMI! at 11-24 on NW 315 degree beam; in
addition to true 17790 at 15-21 on SSE 160 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Jan 22 at 2309, token English from SNR, feature
interview about a ``residencia para señoritas`` possiblizing for the
first time higher education for YLs in Spain, from Oct 1915 until the
Spanish CW intervened in July 1936. VG here direct, other frequencies
unchecked, nigh irrelevant (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003, Jan 22 at 2308, VOT not off the air,
fair direct. Into UTwente at 2339, VG in ``with-you-every-hour``
promo, music; 2344 multi-lingual ID filler reel, music; 2350 s/off as
if this were the 1330 on 13635, and ID until off at 2355:30*, just in
time to avoid German, uncovering fellow genocidal Chicom-controlled
XJRTV (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2226 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
January 21 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9 but noisy,
some S7 fades of audibility into UTwente; VG steady S9+15 into nearby
Noale SDR and no QRM at either.

Also confirmed Sunday January 21 at 2232 on Shortwave Radio, Germany,
3975.002, S9/S7 into UTwente; preceded by a DX program in German from
ADDX.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 22 at 0035 the 0030 on WRMI 7780,
S6/S7 into opposite direxion UTwente where I don`t usually check 7780,
but detectable with some CW QRM on about 7778.9

Also confirmed UT Monday January 22 at 0401, on Area 51 via WBCQ
6159.95, S9/+20 direct.

Not confirmed Monday January 22 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, no
signal on 3975 into UTwente. Later check at 2133 there detects an S7
signal on 3974.997 but nothing audible. No signal to a Finnish SDR but
I checked only one of countless. Next:

line is KQPN West Memphis AR, U4 1000/1000, 24h talk format, `OvC` per
NRC AM Log -- yes, that means Overcomer Ministry = Brother
Hystairical! in which case it should be shown as REL. But no TOMBS
heard now.”

The AM Radio Log doesn’t list a religious format unless a station has
more than one program or a substantial amount of a given format during
their broadcast day. A good example in KXEL-1540 which also carries
the Overcomer Ministry but it`s a paid segment overnight. Many
stations shown with OvC and quite a few with FoF = Focus on the Family
have a different primary format. 73 Wayne Heinen N0POH, Editor, NRC AM

UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. Re my 1218.1 carrier het: Terry Krueger
replied at 0127 UT Jan 20: ``I am no value in that I can only tell you
what *isn’t* offset after sunset here in extreme NW Floriduh tonight.
The below are all essentially on 1220, not offset.

WAYE Birmingham AL is in Spanish with lots of local spots. Pseudo
Mexi-tunes.

Someone fake C&W with constant canned drops by female as “My Country
12-20 AM.” Pointing slightly more west. Curious who this is. I’m sure
I missed NRC/IRCA updates on this.

Someone else threshold in Spanish, maybe the big XEco station. Kinda
pointing thataway. Uselessly yours, TLK``

And then David Crawford, FL: ``No hint here at 0130 Z. But cubana
Radio Caribe 1219.996 is playing some nice danzón music. К победе!``

I reply ``Tnx, youse guys for the rapid responses. Well, outruling is
beginning of process. In NRC AM Log, the only 1220 as ``My Country``
but not including the frequency as printed, is WSLM, Salem IN U4
5000/82. No FM xltr shown so would have to mention 1220 if any.
Glenn``

Terry Replies at 0331: ``Interesting. At 0041, there was a very clear
“…right here in Salem…” The fake C&W could have been bumper music. So,
probably WSLM per your digs. Thanx. Still, nothing else low 1220 het
here in defacto lower Abalama`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search Jan 22 at 0424:
1566, 1125-2?, 891, 774, 711, 693. This time from top down, 1566 no
doubt BENIN. Oh2, soon I`m getting intermittent connexions from both
antennas into the R75(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 92.1, Jan 22 at 2115 UT, snippet of YL in Spanish, in
caradio bandscan since it`s foggy and area reception might be
enhanced. But otherwise if anything, it`s subnormal. Except she has to
be DX, maybe MS or Es, as there are no OK or KS in SS on 92.1. TX has
six, only two of those not LP or xltrs, Alice and Carrizo Springs.

Is there Es? By 2342 UT check of 6 m map, there is! MUF 99 MHz,
multi-angled, but the nexus is in SW OK, two close to be helpful here.
Earlier could have been Mex with plenty of Spanish. I have not had
*any* definite Es on FM this winter. It has not been unusual for the
map to show MUF just below or slightly above 88 MHz.

By 0015 UT Jan 23, DXMAP is showing Zerr in NV contracting FM DX from
KS so there must be another patch half out thataway, so around 0030 I
brave the freezish rain and Spanish needles for another caradio DX
check: no, nothing unusual in 88-98 MHz surveyed a couple times (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
