Will be interesting to see if there's a similar transmission tonight.Yes, there
was. And again a VERY strong fully decodable signal here in NB with indoor
equipment (KiwiSDR + W6LVP loop). According to my recording, the transmitter
came on the air (or at least DRM started decoding) at just before 02:30 UTC.
Again, this is on 9565 kHz and on 28 February (UTC) this time. The transmission
started with a song by Malagasy composer and singer Eus?be Jaojoby (thanks,
SoundHound) in progress. More uninterrupted music followed. Turned out this was
not the previously heard RFI Monde (or RFI Afrique feed) but rather RFI
Musique, another of the four RFI streams:
RFI Monde: tout en fran?ais ;
RFI Afrique: tout en fran?ais, destin? ? l'Afrique francophone ;
RFI Multilingue: pour les langues ?trang?res ;
RFI Musique: diffuse de la musique.
I don't know if RFI Musique has ever been on shortwave before or whether they
have dedicated FM or DAB(+) outlets in France or elsewhere (WRTH not at hand).
The transmission ended at about 02:57, unfortunately, in the middle of a song
by Peter Tosh, the deceased Jamaican reggae musician who was also a member of
the Wailers.
Again, after the RFI DRM transmission ended, there seemed to be a weak residual
DRM signal on the frequency. But it wasn't seen on the waterfall of the U.
Twente SDR receiver. What could this be?

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Feb 28 at 2300, token English from SNR, S9+20/30
direct, first about leap years and some famous people who died during
them, not specifically on Leap Day. 2302.5 news. 2309 interview about
rare diseases, 6113? of them, many not diagnosed (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** TURKEY [non]. 5960v, Feb 28 at 2300, no signal direct from VOT
English. Checking UTwente at 2333: nothing but Chinese on 5960.000,
XJRTV no longer an understation, std. genocidal denunciation. So is
VOT overrunning on 9610? Not there either, something else weak,
presumably CNR Mongolian from Beijing site. Still no show of VOT
eitherfreq by 2355. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2231 monitoring: confirmed UT
Wednesday February 28 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+20 into Missouri SDR.
Not confirmed Wed Feb 28 at 1527 the secret 1500 on WRMI 9955: at
first I wonder if that`s me at imagination-level in the noise; then
realize it`s off the air, while 9395 & 9455 are still propagating. And
too late to check the webstream. Anyone hear it start at 1500 or on
stream?
Confirmed Wednesday February 28 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.001, S9+10 into UTwente.
Also confirmed Wednesday February 28 at 2200 on WBCQ, 7489.949, S7/9+5
into Maryland SDR at 2124 when I set up to record the entire WOR slot:
apparently aired intact unlike last week. Meanwhile, reception direct:
2200 JBA can`t be sure it`s me; 2228 VP but now can tell it`s #2231
with last week`s propagation outlook. Next:
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975

** U S A. 15770, Tue Feb 27 at 2000, WRMI going from VOA `Flashpoint
Global Crisis` - tho still on skedgrid as merely `Flashpoint Ukraine`;
into `VORW`. John introes it as for Mon Feb 26 on WWCR 4840! Wrong
file, or incomplete reference? Roughly first half he cites the `news`,
second half into music. Checking because earlier today at 1300, 15770
was reported to be off instead of `Encore` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5130+v, Feb 28 at 0718, no signal from WBCQ `All Trump All
The Time`, unusual, supposedly 24/7. Propagation? 6159.9v with TOMBS
is audible. Usually about 5130.3, tho last time I tuned across, closer
to 5130.2. Should be audible daytime into NH SDR: still absent at
1715, but 6160v VG. Tsk2, one can never get enough Drumpf (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, Feb 28 at 0019, WTWW-2 is back on after a few days
off, presumably with SFAW in very rapid check. Ditto some 24 hours
later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VENEZOMBIA. 4940, Feb 28 at 0135, Estaci?n 4940 is missing, nor on
later tonight (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
