unreadable announcement, could it be farewell? Never heard anything
otherwise about this being final broadcast. 2220 song. I switch back
to UTwente which is now much better, S9+5/15 on 9610.005+, music. 2223

5960.003+, Dec 31 at 2257, OCDA S9+40 into UTwente, 2259 starts IS and
IDs for VOT. So it`s on but I`ve already heard most of the English
hour from 2130. The 2218 ``announcement`` turns out to be just music
when I check for it at 2348, 2353 s/off, 2354 IS to 2355.5* chop
uncovering Chinese. We may know by tomorrow whether it survive (Glenn

rather like Brother Scare, like much stronger TOMBS via WWCR 9980. It
was always strange to have WOR sked already only one hour later than
previous airing. Still shown with both on the System B skedgrid, so
what will happen next week/month/year?
Also confirmed Tuesday December 31 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.999-, S9 but noisy into UTwente. Unknown program about propaganda
about to quote Noam Chomsky was chopped short before 2100. Next:

neighbor on the dial and on the land, 5935, WWCR-2 with PMS is much
weaker, only S9+20/30, so on low power? There had not been any
significant difference before, altho azimuths may be diverse. It`s not
at all clear where lie the major lobes of either.
5890, WWCR-4 is also on at 0443, S9+50 with squeals, but the usual
leapfrog over 5935 attains nothing more than a JBA carrier (Glenn

hours. While 9955, WRMI-3 is S9+20/30 with TOMBS. By recheck 0738,

** U S A. 26110 NBFM, Dec 31 at 1634 UT, KMK282 finally audible again,
the auxiliary of KOVR ``13``, Stockton-Sacramento, about NYE preps. At
S7 it`s quite scratchy but readable. 1636 northern California weather
including 39 degrees in Sacramento, ``here in the Valley``. Growing to
S8, less scratchy, and almost clear at S9 peak before 1640 fading
down. DXers further east have been reporting this a lot lately, but no
luck here. In fact, my last definite log was Nov 28, *2023* at 1605.
It seems I`m too close for F2 prop, need sporadic E. 6M Map shows a 43
MHz Es MUF spot over southern Utah, maybe responsible for this (Glenn

Earlier on Dec 30, last check of Virtual DJ Radio, Enid, it was OK.
Both it and Reynosa have been somewhat off-frequency plus, and at
night I usually detect at least two signals significant Hz apart. IRCA
Mexican Log says of XEFCR: ``slightly off-frequency 1670.03 to 1670.05
in 2023`` and someone recently had it on 1670.04 (Glenn Hauser, OK,

I'm listening to that warbler right now on 870 on a KiwiSDR station in
Ohio, 1/1/25 at 0128Z. For some reason I've never noticed it before. Is it
in Cuba? What is its purpose?
