** BRAZIL. 5939.581, Apr 11 at 0444, R. Voz Mission?ria reactivated,
supposedly with new transmitter acquired from R. Marumby, but again is
way off-frequency-minus, further than before, as measured by Bras?lia
SDR, which seems accurately calibrated. Only S5/S7 signal there. Tnx
to tip from Rudolf Grimm that it was back. At 0606 I try it direct: as
usual, JBA carrier, 5939.58 in mush from dirty 5935 WWCR, which throws
out spurs around this area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 87.9, Apr 11 at 2005 UT, dead air in $tereo in my
neighborhood, short range, no doubt some RF feeder probably in a
parked car and not turned off (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES. 15620, Apr 11 at 1430, `Jesus Saves` IS and dead air.
EiBi shows FEBC Bocaue site at 1400-1430 in Javanese. HFCC shows 100
kW at 200 degrees. Despite such awayness, it`s now one of the better
signals on band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 13635, Apr 11 at 0558, VOT Turkish with music, good S6/S8
direct with improving spring conditions, ex-9650 in B season. At 0600,
3-pip timesignal ending 4 seconds late compared to CHU and presumed
news. Something`s always awry at Ankara and/or erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 13690, April 11 at 0601, BBC news relay, VG S9/+20
direct via RNZ via RNZP. Probably better via NEW ZEALAND than any
BBCWS SW frequency itself into North America. RNZ sked shows BBC
Newsday for the entire 06-07 UT hour, on Fridays, not clear if every
day (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. New WOR iog member, I ask about the current status of 1180
kHz: ``Glenn, Radio Marti?s 1180 KHz is operating at full-Power (100
Kw) 24/7, all transmission appears to be normal, tower lights are all
working. Programming is recorded content. Due to the Agency has locked
out all employees from the Miami Studios, no news is produced
currently. The automation repeats programming every 48 hours, is my
understanding. I monitor the transmission daily.

My name is Melvin Eleazer; Key Colony Beach, FL (located near
Marathon, FL). I have worked with VOA for 30+ years (retired from
Radio Mart? as Station Manager & Senior Engineer of Marathon`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to: Glenn

** U S A. 790, April 11 at 0632 UT, North Dakota news and ID as KFGO,
the dominant signal despite my E/W antenna, and several closer
stations. Night coverage map shows major lobe to north, minor to
south:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KFGO&service=AM&h=N
Site is just south of Fargo right on the state line = Red River with
Minnesota. Which state is it really in? per FCC:
NAD83 Coordinates: 46? 43' 04.9" N+ 096? 48' 06.3" W-
FCC shows the CITY of Fargo at: W Longitude: 96 49 45.00840, i.e.
almost 2 minutes further west than KFGO site, which makes it more
possibly in MN, but of course the River boundary is not a straight N/S
line. And what precise location in the city does that refer to, a
court house? Post office? Surely somewhere ``downtown`` or ``city
centre`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 91.5, April 11 at 2005 UT, big hum marring KSNS, 95 kW,
Medicine Lodge KS. Hum whenever I check it, certainly a transmission
defect, not reception (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN [non?]. 15595, April 11 at 0603, VR news in Italian, VG S9,
the SSOB by far. Registered as SMG site, 0600-0610 daily except Sun,
250 kW at 108 degrees toward ME. Once again, hard to believe that`s
accurate, putting such a huge signal thisaway unlike anything else
from Europe on band. Their antenna may be bi-direxional putting as
much signal off the back; or even reversed by accident; or it`s really
via MADAGASCAR which would be aiming thisaway across Africa (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Tom

Physics cannot be tricked. The area surrounding the loop is simply too
small for usable reception. At least she looks good ;At least she looks
good ;
