** PERU [and non]. 28435 USB, May 23 at 2205, Spanish but English ID
fonetikaly as OA4DAG. QRZ.com: ``OA4DAG Peru flag Peru, Luis Alberto
"Lucho" de Azambuja Gonzales, Pimentel 337 Punta Hermosa, Lima 15845,
Peru. I live in Punta Hermosa, a beach town located 50 KM from Lima. I
love speaking on the radio and going fishing! QAP, QRV!``
28445 USB, May 23 at 2207, starts English but switch to Spanish by
OA4BUO, contacting TI4OVR, who was weakerly audible. 450 watts,
Antonio from Lima. Took several tries to copy his too-fast call.
QRZ.com: ``OA4BUO Peru flag Peru, Antonio M. Helfer Arguedas, Av. Del
Aire # 558, La Victoria 15034, Peru`` - ``TI4OVR Costa Rica flag Costa
Rica, TEL 50688711977, Oscar Viquez, Heredia, Costa Rica``
First I found no beacons audible on 10m, but phone USB unID Spanish as
low as 28315 at 2202 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500, 17715, 15520, 15390, Fri May 23 at 2200, all 4 token
English SNR frequencies are on; could not understand the opening
preview. 2201 news starting with foreign minister meeting with Rubio
in Washington. 2212 interview lamenting scientific research now being
discouraged in USA, e.g. about water resources (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785.004, May 23 at 2158, VOT not off the air, but JBA
direct. Into UTwente at 2242 when measured during music, S9+5/15. 2243
`Did You Know That?` with Efsun the axentuated, about a Turkish town
near the Italian border for 300 years. 2251 multi-lingual ID filler reel.
2253?s/off as if 1230 on 17620, awry at Ankara. 2254 IS a sesquitime of
the?opening notes and chopoff.
Note: earlier on May 23, JRX in Brasil heard VOT English on 9465 at
0300, new frequency. I suspect they failed to QSY after the 0300
Uighur service; need to check whether both of the original frequencies
still be on, 7275 and 6165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2296 monitoring: not confirmed Friday May 23
after 1310 the 1300 on WRMI 15770: VP propagation so JBA direct, and
also JBA into UTwente and some eastern USA remotes. Cannot perceive
any modulation. Dean Bonanno informs me:
``Hello Mr. Hauser, I figured I would let you know that WOR did not
air May 23, 2025 at 1300 UTC on WRMI 15770, per the WRMI schedule.
After the broadcast in the 1200 UTC hour ended around 1259, only a
carrier could be detected. The program following WOR at 1330 was also
not heard, just a carrier. At 1400, normal programming resumed at
regular signal strength. 73 - Dean Bonanno, Durham, CT``
``Sorry, I just found that we had a problem with System D this
morning. The transmitter on 15770 was fine, but the System D audio
computer failed and did not play the program at 1300. We got it
working later. Jeff White, General Manager
WRMI Radio Miami International``

S8.5 into UTwente; also on WRMI webcast only.

VG S9+30.
Also confirmed Friday May 23 at 2233 the 2231 on SW Radio, Germany,

Thanks this week for generous financial support from Doug Brown, a
generous check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK
73702 USA: ``Greetings from London ON. Thanks, Glenn for all you do to
keep our great hobby alive. Best Regards & 73s``
One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 17790, May 23 at 1449, S5/S7 with interview mentioning being
on Pan American - so WRMI-7 Radio Africa Network is again on air
before scheduled *1500; from 1400 now? Much better reception here than
on next frequency down, 15770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9917.1 & 9942.9, May 23 at 2157 parasitic spurs out of very
strong WTWW 9930 direct. Some modulation is audible on them, not
always the case; and apparently a further one circa 9904 but not on
the plus side, and not a lot of additional splatter this time (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` WBCQs check, May 23 at 2357, into Maryland SDR:
3265 off, 5130 -79 Hz = 5129.921 S7/S9 IS & ID, 7490 -77 Hz = 7489.923
FKB. 0000 May 24 UT Saturday WTO and ``New pope, new hope``, claims
quadricasting on 3265, 5130, 7490 and 9330 -- but NOT, and this is a
rerun since the pope is no longer new. Then I check the other
frequencies: 9330 still with WLCR, 3265 still off, and strangely 6160v
is off instead of some other program as usual this hour. Never mind
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1549.82, May 23 at 0615 UT, again that JBA carrier
hetting 1550.00 stations. Mike in Qro. thinks XEREL is too weak to
reach Oklahoma, but I think it`s possible as long as it`s away from
the center frequency pileup. What we need is an exact frequency
measurement of XEREL at local or near-local range. Euro DXers have
already measured the Peruvian on 1549.82 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 4849.95 approx., May 23 at 0619, the JBA carrier again.
Could be harmonic from one mediumwave frequency, 5 x 970 altho would
be slightly lower. Around 0500 I checked UTwente, and no trace of a
signal there. In case it be an harmonic, might also show on X3 = 2910
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 6225.0, May 23 at 0621, beeps = carrier on and off at
the steady rate of 24/minute = every 2.5 seconds. What is this, and
why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. ``The 6938 open carrier is a frequent visitor here, so
frequent that I expect to see it. It?s been around for many months,
maybe a year. Often, it is accompanied by a data transmission starting
on 6940 and about 3 kHz wide. On a waterfall, the data looks like a
ladder. Usually, the carrier is 30 or 40 dB over the local background
noise. Ron Hunsicker`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
