** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, June 27 at 0613, BBCWS via RNZP here only, not
// 9700 for a change, back to schedule, after some weeks of
duplication. Maybe they finally noticed my observation about the
anomaly. Both were equally good here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13605, June 27 at 2027, R. Mart? is back on SW! S8/9+10 into
Bonaire. Also 11860, S9/+10. Definitely first day back since killed in
March as I bandscan every day. First reported in the WOR iog by David
Ross, ON; Terry Krueger says they both dropped off at 2033. Kim
Elliott: ``I just confirmed that it's Greenville. Schedule is
1400-2200 UTC Lunes a Viernes for now. 11860 and 13605. Hooray for the
Murrow Station. Kim``

Glenn Swiderski tells me, ``Glenn, they got the op order this morning.
They will be running 8 hours a day on GB2 and GB3 continental 419f
transmitters at 100 kw. They shut down around now {2037} I understand.
More later as I get info. 73 Glenn``

So will they not be on evening/night frequencies later on 9, 7 and 6
MHz? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

WOR)

** U S A [and non]. A major sporadic-E FM DX opening is in progress
when I check DXMAPS June 26 at 1555 UT, so I hasten to the caradio,
dropping everything else. See recent reports for my approach to
FMDXing. Times strictly UT. Main reference WTFDA FM Database.
Distances at end of each item are approx., city-to-city from
distancefromto.net, not site to site, in km/statute miles. Distances
do not necessarily imply a log be more definite.

88.1 at 1558, French Canadian talk, gone before any ID. The only
full-powers in range are CKSB-10-FM Winnipeg MB 100 kW, 223 m,
1503/934; CBON-FM-18 SS Marie ON, 3.59 kW, 117 m, 1589/988; and
CFRH-FM Penetanguishene ON, 40 kW, 274 m, 1774/1102

92.7 at 1600, a ``shout-out`` in Spanish; then ID in English as KRRN
in --- Valley. It`s Moapa Valley NV, 100 kW horiz only, 1481/920;
and/or KRRN-FM2 in Las Vegas, 20/20 kW, ``Fuego 92.7``, 1545/960

93.3 at 1602, ``Rewind 93``, CCI. OKC station always a problem but can
be overcome; is that station slogan, or just a program? Surprised to
get one hit on this but not from the PTA: KRWD Texico TX, 6.1/0 kW, 78
m, classic hits. Guess what: Texico is axually in NM, just across the
border from Farwell on the way to Clovis, and hardly possible by Es,
nor with that power by groundwave, so, what?? Of course the
transmitter site could be in TX. No, radio-locator shows it`s right in
Clovis! 530/329

Broad websearch however leads to wikipedia and KXAZ Page AZ, in
connexion with Rewind 93, formerly? Claims it`s now one of those Jack
FM stations - like OKC! But the website link for KXAZ
https://rewind93.com/ leads to the one in Clovis! Page: 1212/753

92.1 at 1606, rock on B-92-1. That would be KXBN Cedar City UT, 100
kW, 532 m but it also has two co-channel LP relays: KXBN-FM1 in St
George, 3.5/0.01 kW, and KXBN-FM2 also in Cedar City!, 0.25 kW, -160 m
1354/841

92.9 at 1610, AC 306, Ottawa ad, Trail Appliances, Blue Rhino Pub &
Grill; 1612 Hillbilly Boogie, mention Saskatchewan; CRB sports, Sask.
Association of Broadcasters, ``92-9 The Bull``, i.e. CKBL-FM
Saskatoon, 100/100 kW, 195 m. AC 306 is Sask, Ottawa ment. maybe a
street not city 1881/1169

89.3 at 1614, $tereo music CCI to KIEL OK mono; mention Niles 49120,
i.e. Niles, Michigan! It`s in the SW corner, so which MI FM is close?
None, nor nearby S Bend IN area. False lead? [1170/727]

92.9 at 1618, Almond Joy, Camp Shame? for fat kids, iHeart,
Accuweather, CCI. Camp Shame is a series of iHeart podcasts, seemingly
historical account of a real thing, location unknown and probably not
relevant to 92.9. Several 92.9s are iHeart, including another `The
Bull`, in Tucson AZ [1288/800]

93.1 at 1619, Las Vegas rocks; 1620 Mustang Challenge 2025 in Vegas,
1621 ``93-1 the Mountain``, i.e. KYMT Las Vegas NV, 23.5 kW, 1183 m
1545/960

101.5 at 1622, rock $, 1626 ``Sunny 101.5`` = KCLS Leeds UT, 40 kW,
600 m 1380/858

101.5 at 1626, CCI with $ classical piano music, also at 1635. In US,
only two translators in CO, OR of 19 and 47 watts; in Canada, only
CBRX-FM Rimouski QC, 100 kW H only, 319 m, on the Ici Musique network.
So strong I was trying to get RDS on the DX-398, but not, nor any in
this opening 2733/1698

106.1 at 1630, Washington County fires, $, Pine Valley, Grass Valley,
Lloyd something, Dixie National Forest, SW Utah weather,
IronCountyfair.net. Iron County is in SW Utah, Cedar City, but no
106.1 in the state! Other Iron Counties in WI & MI. Dixie NF also in
SW UT. So is that fair. But this fits: KDXU-FM 106.1 Colorado City AZ,
35 kW, 347 m, is just across the UT border and relaying KDXU 890 which
is in: St. George UT! 1347/837

106.1 at 1638 ``Kix 106-1``. If spelt Kix 106, it`s CKKX-FM Peace
River AB, 0/50 kW, 219.9 m, 2643/1642 - too far; altho there is also
Kix FM on 106.1 in High Level AB, 29 kW, 317 m, 2831/1759, also too
far. Now looking thru the entire 200+ 106.1 listing for alternate
spellings in USA or Canada: O, that could just be EGW spoiler KXKU
Lyons KS, 100 kW, 200 m, KICKS 106, no others. 219/136

94.9 at 1644, Home Depot, naming boats such as ``Trick or Trout``,
cash back with Upside; 1645 ``30 minutes of country starts now`` Maybe
like later 1725 log, KZWY WY; no, it`s rock not country

90.3 at 1649, Becky`s Place, two blox east of casino, $ CCI to mono
Okie. 1650 True-north Recreation Super-Store, Yamaha motorbikes ad,
2nd Ave. West. 1706 mentions Flin-Flon.

``Becky's Place retails purses, ribbon skirts, ribbon shirts,
blankets, crafting materials and more. Located at 197 Broadway East,
Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan.`` Tru-North Recreation SS is in Prince
Albert SK on 2nd Ave W. The only SK on 90.3 is CJLR-FM-4 relaying
89.9, in Regina, 43 kW, 190 m, with aboriginal format, 1654/1027. Fort
Q. is near Regina, not FlinFlon MB. And there is no MB 90.3 beyond
Winnipeg.

91.5 at 1651, mono, ad for Clawson-Edwards.com audio processing. No
hits, but this reaches something in Antioch, California:
https://store.claessonedwards.com/aboutus.asp
It`s hard to tell on 91.5 whether I am getting KSNS KS, now Smile FM,
or CCI DX

92.9 at 1656, ``92-9 The Bull``, country, $. See earlier item at 1610.
Probably still CKBL SK, however as noted at 1618, there is another in
Tucson. ``The Bull`` again at 1710.

94.1 at 1658, ``94-1`` with ``Q`` which is a CBC program. Fit in the
PTA is CBK-1-FM Saskatoon which relays CBK 540 with 4.1 kW, 68.0 m.
Probably same at 1708 W&M discussing ``The Bear`` TV show last night.
1881/1169

94.1 at 1700, ``Country 94-1 CIMG``, i.e. CIMG-FM, Swift Current SK
100/43 kW 151.3 m; CCI. 1737/1079

101.5 at 1709, $ rock, 1710 ``Charley Morgan is on 101-5 Hits? Radio``
- no, search leads to Charlee Morgan [YL] on BEACH Radio 101.5 Prince
Albert, 10 am-2 pm, https://www.beachradiopa.ca/charlee-morgan/ i.e.
CHQX-FM, 100 kW, 178.0 m 1967/1222

88.7 at 1713, French? rap? CCI to Okie. Likely CKSB-FM-2 Saskatoon,
100/66.7 kW, 178.9 m but is the format music or talk? 1881/1169

92.9 at 1715, Canadian Furniture, trulynolan.ca, Sask Dairy, 1716
Saskatoon weather, ``Your Country continues on 92-9 The Bull`` = CKBL
yet again

94.5 at 1718, ``Jack 94-5``, something about a day school? It`s
CKCK-FM, Regina, 100 kW, 190.0 m 1653/1027

92.9 at 1723, about fire crews in Flin Flon, preumably CKBL again

94.9 at 1725, local news, ``The Hub``, Sheridan Media Newsroom with
Kevin Coyle? KZWY Sheridan WY, 75 kW, 368.0 m. DB does not mention
Hub, but ``Z-94 Wyoming`s Best Classic Rock``. The Hub on Smith serves
the needy. and here we go:?

https://sheridanmedia.com/news/176084/sheridan-media-announces-kevin-koile-as-sports-director/
1207/750

93.1 at 1728, Big Deals, Rodeo in Kansas, never mind

94.1 at 1730, Whitehall Rodeo Grounds, in SW Montana: so KOPR Butte,
58 kW, 566.0 m, 1623/1008

94.5 at 1736, Spokane Valley, Washington State, juvenile detention,
JBA: no WA fits, but very near in Idaho: KHTQ Hayden 83 kW, 665 m,
1999/1242

94.5 at 1737, Lowes, Allstate ads, fade, CCI maybe not same as above

92.9 at 1738, ``Z-Z-U``, $ rock. So it is: KZZU-FM, Spokane WA 81 kW,
634 m, 2034/1264

At 1743 I suspend for lunch and R&R; some fadedowns but opening not
over: resuming:

94.1 at 1848, AC 406, Bobcat tractors, in Deer Lodge, 12:50 TC = MDT.
Clews point to Montana, i.e. near Butte, KOPR again

96.7 at 1851, Home Depot ad, CCI, 1852 Parker Campground; 1854 ``96-7
Kiss FM All Hits``; 1856 Spring -- 4H Club, Teton County, ``KSEN and
K-96``: 96.7 is KISN Belgrade MT, 4.1 kW, 131 m, ``Kiss FM 96.7
Today`s Hottest Music``, 1523/946. But there is also KZIN-FM Shelby
MT, 100 kW, 168 m, ``K-96 Wide Open Country``, 1763/1096. Maybe
getting mixture of both: Teton County MT is NW of Great Falls, Shelby
is not in it but not too far. KSEN is AM 1150 in Shelby. It seems
there are too many Parker campgrounds, but included in Glacier
National Park west of Shelby which is just south of Canadian border
near Cut Bank. Belgrade is near Bozeman and Yellowstone.

92.9 at 1858, K-Love. The only full power K-Love is KLRH Reno NV, 48
kW, 153 m, and none closer to MT; 1949/1211

94.1 at 1859, ``KOPR Butte`` singing ID, 1900 ABC news. As before, 58
kW, 566 m. 1902 weather low 48, hi 75, same?

94.5 at 1908, $ C&W, ``Today`s Best Country 94.5``. In MT that would
be KMON-FM Great Falls, 98 kW, 151 m, but ``94.5 Max Country`` listed,
1657/1029. Searching on ``Best Country`` on 94.5 gets only one hit in
USA & Canada: CFWE-FM-5, Fort McMurray AB, 100 kW, 78 m, ``Alberta`s
Best Country`` - but that`s pretty far north beyond PTA [2475/1538]

94.5 at 1911, ``Nice? Country``, YL DJ, same as above? Maybe it was
``Max``

92.9 at 1915, ``Great Falls` greatest hits of the 80s and 90s``: KLFM
98 kW, 125 m, but ``Kool 92.9`` 1657/1029

96.7 at 1919, ``96 FM``, Dolly Parton? Too generic, but only two hits
both in Ohio, preceded by ``Mix``

At 1921 I suspend as DX seems dying out, I hope. Yes, MUFs down later
per DXMAP (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

>From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any
>radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back
>to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded
>by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM,
>for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very
>interesting twits every day ..
