Zach, it's a wide-band digital signal. Better to see on a waterfall, than
actually listening. To me, today, it looked a lot like what I see with OTH
radar. 73, Walt

Please note and spread the word - for those not on a
list where my almost-daily all-band but mainly SW log
reports appear -- or for those who are but find this a
more convenient archive, weekly merged roundups
of all these reports in their original form are posted
early every UT Thursday via:

** U S A. Date and time were omitted for this: 2202 UT July 22:
9842-9885 & 9975-10006 approx. range, direct, splatter spurs
out of 9930 WTWW which is S9+50/60, also with the plus/minus 12.8 kHz
spur carriers. The lower splatter range peaked around 9860. 9930 had?
been OK around 1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9980, WWCR-4 off the air per own sked, has been on, with
weird ambient music, with occasional Morse code and/or 5-digit numbers
by YL in English, underneath, most ending in -8. What`s this? From
tune-in at 2016 to 2100 with no annouoncements, WWCR ID and Pat Boone
Show, not sked now either.??

WRMI will be participating in this special project, along with our
partner Telediffusion de France (TDF), and with WWCR in Tennessee and
WBCQ in Maine. Below are the UTC days, times and frequencies in kHz
where you can hear the broadcasts on WRMI and TDF. Note that there are
five separate audio tracks that are broadcast on five different
frequencies for each transmission. I'm sorry we don't have the exact
frequencies that WWCR and WBCQ will be using.

interactive sound-art work commemorating the now-demolished RCI

? What RFR: FQF Actually Is --- A live performance, often staged in
art venues such as Ottawa?s National Arts Centre (July 23?26, 2025) or
Moncton, NB (June 5?6, 2025) IOTA Institute. It combines theremin,
sensors, bowed cow-bone cello, saxophone, and simultaneously tuned
shortwave radios from around the world? ? ? IOTA Institute amanda dawn

Notably, ?Deviant Receptions? is one of five segments that is
transmitted via multiple shortwave stations live, but the Full Quiet

WWCR Involvement? After reviewing WWCR?s program schedule and
transmitter listings, there is no indication that World Wide Christian
Radio ever scheduled a
broadcast of Requiem for Radio or RFR:?FQF

WWCR programming is focused on religious and talk shows ? no arts or

piece like this. roger``

Here is the full item from WRMI on FB:

``Special Series of broadcasts commemorating Radio Canada
International:
Requiem for Radio: Full Quiet Flutter (RFR: FQF) is a 60-minute live
performance for human bodies, electrons, and radio waves.
Architecture, technology, history, and the human body come together in
this near-supernatural conjuring of the spirits of the demolished
Radio Canada International (RCI) shortwave towers. Structured with
thirteen movements for the thirteen radio towers, the performance
follows the format of a traditional requiem, but for the RCI shortwave
site that was once located near the border of New Brunswick and Nova
Scotia from where it transmitted shortwave radio around the world from
1944 to 2012.

The performers on stage interact with an elaborate set of invented and
modified electronic instruments that use sensors, custom circuits, and
wireless technology to play the ghosts of the radio towers with radio
waves.?

The largest of these invented instruments, taking up most of the
stage, is a scale model of the RCI site, in which each of the thirteen
towers is equipped with sensors, that when touched, trigger haunting
droning sounds that were recorded with contact microphones placed on
the actual RCI tower before the site was demolished. The thirteen
tower recordings are filtered to create the thirteen notes of a
chromatic scale, thus allowing the performers to play it like a
larger-than-life keyboard, simply by touching it with their skin.

This performance also involves a theremin sending control voltage to
trigger ghostly images of the towers and the sounds they once made, a
bowed instrument played with the bone of a cow that lived beneath the
RCI towers, a saxophone, a choir, shortwave radios, and transmissions
sent from five separate sites on different parts of the planet to be
mixed in real-time in the theatre.

While technological in nature, this performance remains one about
connection ? between people, places, and the unseen forces that bind
us all.
