** AUSTRALIA. 15460, Aug 18 at 1350, Reach Beyond Australia the SSOB
with `Message of Hope`; 1359 s/off to return at 1200, or 17:30 in
India, bit of kookaburra and off 1400*. Per EiBi it`s multilingual,
the only English 1345-1400 daily, and 1245-1300 days 1345 only =
Mon/Wed/Thu/Fri (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 990, Aug 18 at 0503 UT news in English including wildfires
in Nova Scotia, so likely CBC via CBW Winnipeg. Hardly solid with lots
of QRM, fades. Suspect is underpowered despite clear-channel 50/46 kW
non-direxional status. Otherwise, it`s our best chance to hear CBC
Radio One, much more so than 540 CBK or any other (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CANADA. 6754 USB, Aug 18 at 0450, CHR, Trenton Military, with
aviation weather for Trenton itself valid Aug 18 0000z to Aug 18
2400z. Altho I don`t have patience to monitor an entire loop, at
random chex I`m not hitting any ``no report received``s now (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, UT Mon Aug 18 at 0449, RHC S9+30/40 but suptorted.
After straining for about a minute, I decide it`s Spanish instead of
English, as RHC claims to run both at same time on 6000 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 13605, Aug 18 at 1415, R. Mart? VG tho only S5/6 on
meter with `Caf? Digital`, about holographic television and other
topix with rock music breaks. Very rapid pace but I`m pleased to
understand almost all of it tnx to excellent clearly enunciating
announcers. Not about Cuba in particular; could well qualify as a VOA
Latin American service. Also slightly weaker on 11930, 11860 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1190, Aug 18 at 0433, ``vac?nase para Chihuahua`` PSA,
therefore XEPZ, Ciudad Ju?rez, as I suspected during previous SS log.
IRCA says 1000/250 watts, ``M?xima 99.1, Tu Estilo de Vida`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955.13 AM, UT Mon Aug 18 at 0452, dead air then
music and ``glorious independent sideband AM stereo``, but I can`t
copy axual ID; then same announcement by YL in German. 0454 mentions
``ten dollar whore``, music with heavy beat; S9+10/20. Of course I`m
not set up to copy ISBs separately. Stern Radio says it`s them after
reports heard in Alaska, South Carolina:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,148885.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7475 AM, Aug 18 at 0458 Station YHWH JBA with the
recognizable intonations of Josiah (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 13580, Aug 18 at 0514, music, French, S9+10 with heavy
flutter; it`s RRI Tsiganeshti at 0500-0527 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. LW/MW beaconscan Aug 18 at 0444-0445 UT hits JBA carriers
mainly with assumed IDs: 251 AM Amarillo TX, 293 FBY FairBurY NE, 332
IC wIChita KS, 407 HRU HeRington KS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 353 MCW kHz, Aug 18 at 0620, ND beacon LI, which is 400
watts from LIttle Rock AR. Haven`t heard this one since last logged
March 7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2308 monitoring: confirmed Sunday

** U S A. 4840, UT Mon Aug 18 at 0447, WWCR-3 with inimitable voice of
John Jurasek on VORW playing a music request. WWCR program grids now
updated to Aug 11, but *still* with wrong CT/UT conversions! Showing
this at 11 pm Sunday = 0500 UT Monday instead of 0400! (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 570, Aug 18 at 0625 UT, ``Kool 104.5``, soft rock, YL DJ.
It`s KWML Las Cruces NM, U1 5000/155, UC:AC // mere translator K283CG
per new NRC AM Log. Totally dominant, where`s KLIF? Suspect on day
power. FCC LMS shows call sign history: KWML since 12/02/2014; before
that, briefly KGRT from 02/04/2014, and before then from 10/02/2000
KSNM. But I`m trying to remember what it was in the XXth century when
I briefly lived in LC - I think it was KGRT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 780, UT Mon Aug 18 at 0640 on WBBM, a *new* StarDate. The UT
Sun Aug 17 was a repeat of UT Sat Aug 16. Not obvious unless you
remember and follow each, since WBBM deletes the *date* at the start
of each show! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 900, Aug 18 at 0630 UT, ID as 95.3 and KF??.com: it`s KFUL
Fulton MO, U1 1000/135, // mere translator K237GU, ``The Big 900`` --
imagine that! Still branding as AM rather than FM frequency. Fulton is
just east of Columbia off I-70. There is one other 95.3/900 match,
WCBX in Bassett VA, no way (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 990, Aug 18 at 0637 UT, 901 area code ad, `Mighty 9-90`` --
that`s KWAM Memphis TN, U4 10000/450. Of course I was trying to hear
CBW; see CANADA. KWAM day pattern is about East/West; night pattern
NW/SE per?
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KWAM&service=AM&h=N&z=i
and site just barely across the River in *Arkansas* (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 1180, Aug 18 at 0637 UT, ``Infinity Sports Network``; new
NRC AM Log shows the only 1180 ISR is: KZOT Bellevue NE, U4
25000/1000, address in Omaha. Radio-locator shows site is in IOWA,
broad lobe favoring SW. Avoiding KOTV IBOC 1183 by LSB tuning (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1370, Aug 18 at 0500 UT, ID? as 98.7 FM and KWRD?.com - NRC
AM Log shows KWRT Boonville MO, U1 1000/84 watts, also on 98.7 K254DE.
Boonville is just west of Columbia in central MO near I-70 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1469 kHz, Aug 18 at 0430 UT, JBA carrier hetting 1470s.
Aha! same weakness on 1431 kHz which I have been hearing for several
nights. No 9/kHz plan stations nor 1430 Cubans to account for it, but
1469 & 1431 imply that a *1450* station is putting out matching spurs
plus/minus 19 kHz. There are only about 162 of those in US & Canada,
plus a couple Mexicans. So, everyone, please check your radio for a
local or daytime-audible 1450 which is spurring in this way. I
normally bandscan at 10/kHz steps in USB, but this time I was doing it
in LSB, thus hitting 1469 which I had missed before. Is there
something in the circuity of AM transmitters which could account for
19 kHz spurs? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6938 AM, Aug 18 at 0456, S9/+10 open carrier vs high
noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7235, Aug 18 at 0457, JBA carrier still mystifying
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7259 CW, Aug 18 at 0458, slow CW, ham way out of CW
subband? But just sending .- over and over = AAAAAAA. No 7260 Vanuatu
audible yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9936, Aug 18 at 0510, S9/+10 open carrier with clix
every 3 seconds, also detectable out to 9928/9948 approx., likely
further with lower noise level. What is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11580, Aug 18 at 0513, noise roughly 11575-11585, sounds
like dirty DRM, but nonesuch listed, only ChiCom jamming and Sound of
Hope. 11580 was once WRMI`s only 25mb frequency; why with 14
transmitters are they never on 25 any more? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Aug 18 at 2200, no signal from RNA/RNB as I am
tuning up to check Turkey on 11785. So much for `A Voz do Brasil.

Still no 11780 signal into PU2GUN Goi?nia remote, UT Tue Aug 19 at
0151 as the token English is already underway, but S9+5/15 on 6180.
0152 already credits for English & Spanish; 0153 RNB IS English outro,
Portuguese ID, Spanish with accents, about 50th anniversary of RNB
starting in Portuguese then Spanish translation, documental about
Parque Rodeador site, evidently rerun; 0158 back to credits already
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Aug 18 at 2203, RHC S9/+10 and suptorted, probably
Portuguese since not // 13780 in music, but that drops to JBA level.
Somethings always wrong at RHC. I see Aoki still doesn`t have RHC on
13780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715 S9+20/30 and much weaker 15390 direct, while 15500 &
15520 are still OFF, Mon Aug 18 at 2200 and later, REE stays in
Spanish, NO English! as originally M/W/F at this hour. To be expected,
as Alan Roe warned us earlier at 0703:?

``Maybe no REE English this week? I have just noticed that the REE
daily programme schedule for this week?
https://www.rtve.es/play/guia-rne/radioexterior/
is not showing any English programming at all. I seem to recall a few
years ago that the English service took a "holiday" break at around
this time (I think that was during the time that Justin Coe was the
only presenter on the English service). However, I wonder if this is
connected to the "new season" of programming recently announced by
Marilyn whereby, starting 1 September, English will only be heard once
a week on Wednesdays? Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` But still in French
after 2230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.018-, Aug 18 at 2159, NO signal direct from VOT
English; something`s always erroneous at Emirler. However, it`s on at
next check 2207, S9+10/20 direct, must have come on how? late; and at
2225 into UTwente when measured during music, S9+35/45 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)?

** U S A [and non}. WORLD OF RADIO 2308 monitoring: confirmed Monday
August 18 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001- S8/9+10 and
3975.001+ S9/+10 into UTwente. Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

** U S A. 17525, Aug 18 at 2203 DEJOM is still preaching on WMLK,
S9+50! direct. Are they really aiming at Europe across mostly
darkpath? All three frequencies are supposedly 300 kW at 53 degrees to
CIRAFs 27, 28 and 39 = W & C Europe, Turkey, Arabia. Directly off the
back 233 degrees would be close to thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 570, re last report: ``Glenn, the 570 in Las Cruces was
longtime KGRT up until 2000, with a brief revival in 2014. In the 20th
Century it was a daytimer with a very good groundwave signal, could
hear it along I-40 driving through New Mexico. Stephen Luce, Houston,
Texas`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21495, Aug 18 at 2158, JBA carrier is the OSOB and
consequently the SSOB. Nothing listed in Aoki, EiBi or HFCC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
