FRANCE 17545even again on Sunday Sept 28 txion from TDF Issoudun site on air,
15.00 UT til exact SWITCH OFF time at 15.57:10 UTC, but remaining time only
EMPTY CARRIER.
So they rent a full hour time amount at public TDF organization ?

S=9+15dB backlobe strength into southern Germany again today.

Txion requested at hfcc.org database as 232 degr azimuth, 15-16 UT.

Today unused 7340 kHz channel registration shows 266 degr azimuth though.

When TX switched OFF at 15.57:10 UTC, a small signal string of S=5 remained
visible on that
channel.

So seemingly only final TX power stage switched off at 15.57 UT,
and the low power exciter signal on first stage kept still getting on power ?

I tried 7340, but only heard jamming, possibly against National Unity Radio.
Signal strength into Masset perhaps slightly weaker than yesterday. 73, Walt

That's easy, Arthur. It's because today's broadcast was VERY short.
It only lasted 15 minutes or less. The English woman came on around 1507,
and mentioned that she was flying tomorrow, so clearly live and not robotic.

** U S A. WTWW: George explains the heavy spurs out of 5920 as caused
by an inductor that needed cleaning, which he did, so it was OK the
next night. Also, an out-of-service transmitter has been sold to
someone who extracted it with a huge forklift and hauled it off,
unknown exactly where but not a current SW station; maybe just wanted
it for parts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5950, UT Mon Sept 29 at 0200, S9+15/40 into Georgia SDR,
`Encore` via WRMI, a show I never miss, tnx to Brice Avery, Scotland
producing an hour of classical music fortnightly. A great mix of the
familiar and the unfamiliar, with just enough introductory info, but
mostly music. This time, including `Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas
Tallis`, by Ralph Vaughn-Williams, a beautiful piece that gives me
goosebumps, until 0234. There`s a mailing list previewing each
edition, such as on Sept 18:

``[WOR] Encore - Classical Music on Shortwave - Times, Frequencies,
Playlists, How to support Encore

Some Things to see on The Encore Website:
The Encore website is www.tumbril.co.uk where you will find:
Important information about funding of Encore - Radio Tumbril.
Up to date transmission times and frequencies.
The playlists for the most recent programmes.
An email link.
Informal reception reports as well as those requesting eQSL cards are
welcome.

ENCORE IS A ONE-MAN OPERATION -? PLEASE MAKE A PAYPAL DONATION AND
HELP KEEP ENCORE ON THE AIR - Go to - www.tumbril.co.uk

WRMI and Channel 292 are very generous with their air-time but Encore
still costs around 100 Dollars/Euros a month to broadcast.
If you can - please send a small contribution to help Encore keep
going.

THE DONATION BUTTON is on the homepage of the website -
www.tumbril.co.uk - which folks can use if they would like to support
Encore.

(Please don't be put off by the POWR security wall when using the
PAYPAL button - it is a harmless requirement of WIX the website
hosting service.)

THIS FORTNIGHT'S PROGRAMME - First broadcast on FRIDAY 19th September
by WRMI at 0200 UTC on 5850, and 2000 UTC on 15770 and then Channel
292 on SATURDAY 20th September at 10:00 UTC on 9670 kHz:
Starts with two very different versions of O Virtus Sapientiae by
Hildegard von Bingen, and two pieces by Welsh composer Paul Mealor.
After that the Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Vaughn
Williams.
The programme finishes with three piano etudes from H?l?ne de
Montgeroult, and the first movement of Viola Concerto No. 3 by
Friedrich Benda.

** U S A. 9330, Sept 29 at 0602, no signal from WLCR/WBCQ; if paused
for rotation before 0600 should be back on by now. Is on at next check
1456 but JBA in degraded propagation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5935, Sept 29 at 0546 for at least two minutes, dead air
from WWCR at S9+50/60; that`s longer than it takes DGS for a cigar
puff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, on E/W loop, Sept
29 at 0530-0544 UT: tuning USB, 1 kHz below 9/kHz channels: 531, 585,

1107, 1206?, 1251, 1305, 1332? --- -2 means at least two carriers
beating; stronger ones on 657, 684 going upward (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.53, Sept 29 at 0551 UT, carrier het against 810.0
WHB, as heard many times before around this spot, but not lately
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 880, Sept 29 at 0548, Mexmx atop KRVN, whatever, plug
app for sounds like ``La Pino Max``, or Mas, ``en todas partes``.
Nothing similar among US stations in NRC AM Log. Usual heard is WIJR
Highland IL, La Tremenda. Mexico? IRCA Log shows only one, in Chihua2,
and it`s silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 890, Sept 29 at 0547 UT, under WLS, unusually another
talk station in English, can`t tell if religious. Possibly KTLR OKC
daytimer. What is status of KDXU St George UT? Was U2 10/10 kW but
with CP for U1 25000/108 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 980, Sept 29 at 0546 UT, Mexmxmix, rather than usual
KMBZ Kansas City dominant. If really SS:REL, most likely KQUE Pasadena
TX. Very few USSS and non-religious: most likely KFWB Los Angeles CA;
but Mexico? IRCA Log has three on 980, but only one possibly active,
XELC La Piedad, Mich, 5000/200 Radio P?a, unlikely (Glenn Hauser, OK,

UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, Sept 29 at 0555, JBA carrier still a mystery; but
no longer hearing the one on 7235 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 11780, UT Tue Sept 30 at 0150, RNA/RNB S9+10 VG into
Bonaire SDR but nothing on 6180, just wrapping up previous show for
token English, continuing about a ``climate convention`` origin,
annex-2 blox, etc., just a lot of bureaucratic blather. 0152.5 already
wrapping up with credits, 0153 English & Portuguese IDs, 0154 same
subject in accented Spanish. This is nominally UT Tue-Sat only, not
M-F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 15034 USB & 6754 USB, as of Sept 29, random day and night
chex have not heard CHR, Trenton Military for several days. Has
anyone? If so please report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COSTA RICA. 28461.5 USB, Sept 29 at 2201, TI2CC calling QRZ in

undermodulated. 11760 JBA carrier maybe something else and no 15s.
SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** HAWAII [non]. 14300 USB, Sept 29 at 2217, KH6JRC, calling for
checkins by anyone/anywhere with/without traffic, to Maritime Mobile

QRZ.com: ``KH6JRC USA flag USA, JAMES D CLAPPER, 3716 CHURN CREEK ROAD
APT D, REDDING, CA 96002-2903, USA`` - says he is originally from the
windward side of Oahu, and NCS for this and two other nets. I was
looking for activity on the Hurricane Watch Net, 14325 USB (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6924.9 AM, Sept 29 at 2212, pirate music at
S9+10/20, which is not enough to overcome the noise level. Nothing
reported yet today in HFU. After jumping thru hoops, searching on that
offset frequency gets far too broad results to be of any use (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** POLAND [non]. 17790, Sept 29 at 2204, S9+20/30, news in English
about Poland, 2206 ID as ``Polish Radio, weekday public affairs
magazine``. But OFF at next check 2220. Error at WRMI? 22-23 UT daily
is indeed time for PRES on WRN (BTW, link to NAm sked reaches one
labeled Africa/Asia/Pacific, but has been identical to NAm for several
years now, unlike Europe stream.) WRMI skedgrid for #7 on 17790 says
finishing at 2200, and no WRN relays that hour. However System E sked
indeed shows WRN at 22-23 daily on 17790, 7570, 5950, 5050 - the
others I cannot hear, nor tell what`s on JBA 9955.

15770, meanwhile at 2221 Sept 29, is as usual in Spanish from TAIWAN,
S9+30, with a tourism program dated Sunday Sept 28 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.019-, Sept 29 at 2157, JBA carrier direct from VOT;
but at 2243 into UTwente when measured, only S7/S8 and cannot hear any
modulation vs the noise level, very disturbed propagation (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2314 monitoring: confirmed Monday
September 29 at 1931 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.002-, S8/9+5 into
UTwente; at first not heard on 6160 but a non-locking weak signal, and
RTTYditty from plus side; then, I can JBA hear the WOR theme on 6160,
maybe undermodulated along with very poor propagation. Followed after
2000 by the daily lullabyes. Next:?

** U S A. 17525, Sept 29 at 2207, no signal from WMLK; propagation
strange but should be at least a trace of it if on to 2230. REE and
