** CANADA. 6070, Jan 14 at 0317, no signal from CFRX; maybe degraded
propagation, tho furthers like 6105 FRANCE are normally loud. Or maybe
off but CFRX is always at least weakly audible over night path. It is
definitely on at next check 0725 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 9535, Jan 14 at 1541, S Asian music S6/S8. It`s CRI in
Nepali this hour, 500 kW at 252 degrees from Xi`an site. Among some
other less exotic CRIs like 9660, which is Chinese via Kunming site at
20 degrees really thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Jan 14 at 0317, S9+45 of dead air from RHC, where
something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 5140 USB, Oklahoma Operations Secure HF Net, or
something like that, fires up Wed Jan 14 at 1500; also heard Jan 7, so
apparently it`s *every* week except for holiday breaks. NCS is WPFY731
in Seminole. Making a rollcall, pronouncing every call sign twice with
fonetik letters, as I hasten to copy without recording backup, so
maybe still some errors also due to my scribble. Mostly no reply,
u.o.s.; I have to semicolon them since some quoters erase linebreaks.
WPQY443, where?;
WQZT582, Broken Arrow;
WQSY836, EOC?;
WNPV700, Durant, Bill chex in, no traffic; better sig than NCS;
WQYW883, Moore EOC, Gaylon ans;
WNUW216, OKC;
WNUW215, Ponca City;
KNGR728, Pontotoc County, Chad ans;
WNUW212, Pottawatomie? County;
WSHM692, State of Oklahoma;
WNBM839, Stillwater;
WNCH624, Tulsa County.
Concludes at 1507, but open for anyone else? Yes, WNBE830, Jefferson
City MO. 1508 summarizes that got only 3 replies; 1509 WPFY721 clear.
>From the above lineup I realize that they are called in alfabetical
order by location. I assume that when we have a real emergency, 5140
USB would become very active (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES. 9310, Jan 14 at 1530, USAGM in Korean via Tinang site,
VG S9+25 way over here beyond. Now it`s a half-hour M-F, same
10-minute Trumpcast thrice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Jan 14 at 2300, token English from REE succeeds,
S9+25/40 into Georgia SDR; 12030 for ME was earlier reported off but
JBA; while 17715 is a JBA carrier. Previews some topix including
diagnostic research. Crosstalk QRM evidently Spanish ambience we don`t
want or need, likewise continuous musical background during news
summary of the week from 2302. While the heavy accents of both
announcers are tolerable, their breakneck speed is mentally tiring.
That`s what we get for one program a week: cram into it as much as
possible. Lebanon correspondentess finished at 2320. But I`ve too much
news from other sources to follow (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002, Wed Jan 14 at 2257, VOT IS & English
IDs, S9+25/30 into UTwente, 2300 sign-on as if it were 1330 on 13635:
something`s always awry at Ankara. But Spain`s only English broadcast
clashes so they get my attention for a while. 2354 s/off the `1330`
broadcast, 7 notes of IS before chop by 2355* uncovering much weaker
ChiCom music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. A few ND beacons JBA now but not always, vs noise level:
245, Jan 14 at 0713, FS, 100 watts at `Rokky` Sioux FallS SD
344, Jan 14 at 0715, JA, 400 watts at `Dinns` JAxonvil FL
359, Jan 14 at 0716, GGF, 0 {sic} watts at Grant NE, all per RNA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2329 monitoring: Confirmed UT
Wednesday January 14 at 0030 on SW Radio Gold, Germany, 3975, S5 into
Carlow, Ireland SDR, but faded to JBA by 0056; after no signals into
UTwente, Bedford.

Confirmed UT Wednesday January 14 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, JBA into N9AZZ
IL remote, but with huge wideband local noiseburst QRMs; after no
signal into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Wednesday January 14 at 2030 on SW Radio Gold, Germany,
3974.999, S2/S4 into Carlow, Ireland SDR and mostly readable after no
signal into UTwente, and JBA into Bedford UK.

Also confirmed Wednesday January 14 at 2200 on WBCQ webcast; and at
2220 poor direct on 7490-. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160.

As a noncommercial public service program, financial support
appreciated. Thanks this week to Chris Krug, Tulsa OK, for a
contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com, and says, ``One news
source has remained constant since I entered the SWL hobby in the
1980's --- Glenn Hauser's WOR! Thanks so much for your unrelenting
devotion to our hobby. I wish you all the best!``

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. World`s Last Chance bankrupt so WBCQ 9.330 MHz off ---
``Hello Glenn, The Worlds Last Chance ministry has apparently gone
bankrupt and has abandoned shortwave radio and WBCQ. The following
message is now posted on wbcq.com:

`Superstation available --- One of the most powerful and versatile
shortwave stations is now available for your lease. The Monticello
Maine Superstation operating on 9.330 MHz with up to 500 KW of power
with its fully rotatable antenna system can put a shortwave signal
anywhere in our world. Contact WBCQ at (207) 889-0039 for this unique
opportunity.` Regards, Lw`` (Larry Will, Area 51)

Bill Tilford, IN: ``An ironic aspect of their radio setup was that in
recent times, that 500kw rotatable was aimed at Brazil, the UK, the US
and Canada. All dressed up with no place to go so to speak. If the
proposed refunding of the USAGM family really happens, maybe Uncle can
lease some time on it.``

``Good point, Bill. It has excellent reach. Perhaps even RCI.
Sackville was only a "stone`s throw" away from Monticello. Practically
in Canada already. 73, Walt`` Salmaniw, BC

``I reached out about leasing time for Pop Shop Radio. Allan says he
is looking for "long term program leases" -- 12 hours a day on 9330.
That shoots that for me! Tony Pavick, BC``

9330, Jan 14 at 1531, still no signal from WBCQ/WLCR.

Website still shows 9330 but headed by: ``Beloved of Yahuway {sic},
The Non-Profit WLC Ministry is currently facing growing financial
challenges, which have unfortunately led to the suspension of several
projects...`` It remains an ``online ministry``.

WLC bankrolled most? of the cost of setting up the 500 kW
`SuperStition`, and thus had rights to all its airtime, altho allowed
AAAWWW one hour a week. So what exactly is the ownership now? Do they
still have any stake in the facility? Or is it 100% owned by WBCQ?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Jan 14 at 0318, no signal from this WTWW, still
sporadic. Prop OK with 5050 WRMI, huge 4840 WWCR. 5085 sked should be
at least 0100-0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN. 13830, Jan 14 at 1535, VR S9+15/25 direct // 15565 equally
strong, and NO other significant signals from Europe on either band.
They may and do use Madagascar relay at times, such as after 1600 on
13830, not 15565, but registered at SMG on both before 1600, Amharic
daily. After 1600 in Swahili, the two should be unsynchronized (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6897-6952 approx., Jan 14 at 0727, multi-carrier,
multi-tones beating against each other, peaking S9 circa 6938, showing
total disrespect for the Pirate Band; what is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
