** BRAZIL. 28395 USB, Feb 18 at 2311, ZV3RS calling CQ10, QRZ in
English, then working KB4ASZ? unheard. Yet another LABRE special call,
this one in Rio Grande do Sul.
28440 USB, Feb 18 at 2312, ZV2SP calling QRZ: this one of course in
S?o Paulo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 15034 USB, Feb 18 at 1528 and then continuous monitoring
1600-1645+ via PEI, no sign of CHR, Trenton Military. In random tuning
past few days, have not hit it nor in dark on 6754 USB -- so totally
silent again? When funxional, is not continuous, with certain breaks
during an hour, but when are they supposed to be? This reference,
https://dxinfocentre.com/volmet.htm
shows both starting at 10, past the hours, the comma implying there
used to be another time, like 40? deleted. 15034 at 1010-2400Z, 6754
at 2310-1100Z. Note the overlap, but only one transmitter? There are
no other stations on either, so hardly necessary to `share` times.
Many instances before, Trenton has disappeared, only to show up again
eventually sometime. Are they serious? At least the last time I heard
them, reports were being received (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15230, Feb 18 at 1531, DA at S7/S8 or JBM? but no signals on
15140, 11880, 11760. Something`s always wrong at RHC. As for
redesigned website, Bill Tilford comments in the WOR iog:
https://www.radiohc.cu/programacion/
The website calendar that link above shows has been a work in (not
much) progress for some time. If you like puzzles, you can try to play
some of the English-language podcasts being archived here....
ENGLISH-LANGUAGE PROGRAMMING / February 15, 2026 - Radio Habana Cuba
https://www.radiohc.cu/en/podcast/english-language-programming-february-15-2026/
{on Feb 18 if you change date to 17 or 16, it`s 404 -- gh}
In fairness, Cuba has no monopoly on user-challenging shortwave
websites, but they have not stopped producing content, maybe just
recalibrating what's terrestrial and what isn't. The Spanish language
service had already been using the tag line "Cuba Online" for a while.
The new website configuration is aiming at archiving several days of
programming. I don't objectively know that terrestrial is being
discontinued, but archiving days at a time could prove to be a plus
under the circumstances. --Bill Tilford`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. Feb 18 at 2037, all known RHC frequencies off. But 11880, Feb
18 at 2305, RHC S9+20/30 of dead air; 11760 as strong on the meter but
DA marred by windhowl; 15140 off and also CRI 13650 relay missing.
SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6925 USB, Feb 18 at 2316, hard rock S9+10/20. Many
logs here as Thunder Chicken Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,158871.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 5140-USB, Wed Feb 18 at 1500-1508 UT, no show
from weekly? Emergency net. Could be on alternate frequency in the 7s?
Don`t remember it, but quick bandscans 7300-7900 don`t hit it.
Uplooked later, it`s 7477. Furthermore, nothing at 1530 from the
equivalent Missouri net on 5140-USB, not weekly? During nonsensical
DST, will be one UT hour earliers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Feb 18 at 2300, token weekly English from REE by
heavily-accented announcers, good here S9+10/20 and 12030 S7/S9 but
17715 JBA and 17755 still absent. After previews, 2302 summary of news
of the week, starting with monthiversary of train crash in C?rdoba;
congress rejects far-right proposed law banning burkas (I think); 2322
winner of song contest gets a golden mermaid; instead of Eurovision
Song Contest, which Spain may not participate in, to protest Israeli
genocide in Gaza; 2323 about derailment killing 46 and injuring more
than 100, how people have lost confidence in rail safety (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 5960, Feb 18 at 2258, VOT not off the air but JBA direct
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7615 USB, Wed Feb 18 at 1505, net with tactical calls like
Black Granite 53 [Montana], Yosemite 80 [California], Fastrunner 31 &
41 [where?]. Civil Air Patrol, para-military sounding. Hit this when
hunting for Oklahoma Emergency Operations net missing from 5140 USB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2334 monitoring: confirmed UT
Wednesday February 18 at 0037 the 0030 on SW Radio Gold, Germany,
3975.001+, S&/S9 noisy into UTwente.
Also confirmed UT Wednesday February 18 at 0142 on WRMI 9395, S9+10
into Knoxville SDR.
Also confirmed Wednesday February 18 at 2030 on SW Radio Gold,
Germany, 3975, S9/+20 into Bedford UK SDR, but not into UTwente.
Also confirmed Wednesday February 18 at 2200 on WBCQ 7490, S7/S9+10
into Georgia SDR. Next:
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160.

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9455, Feb 18 at 2300, since it`s Wednesday, no Argentina
relay but VORW on WRMI, not off the air; starts with time signal
implying far greater accuracy than in reality - must have aired 5-10
sex late (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1090, Feb 18 at 2318, EWTN ID in English, call in show
asking why aren`t you Catholic? Quite dominant on N/S antenna, but on
E/W loop some undermusic presumably KAAY Little Rock still on 50 kW ND
day pattern. EWTN is KEXS Excelsior Springs MO = Kansas City, D4 only
10 kW, or CH of 4000 per NRC AM Log. Then KEXS fades way down and back
up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1420 kHz, Feb 18 at 0734 UT tuneacross, immediate ID as
KTOE, Mankato. KTOE in MN is U2 5/5 kW. Day pattern slightly oval
favoring SW; night pattern much more so, major lobe thisaway. But
normally dominant here is WOC Davenport IA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1441.67, Feb 18 at 0749 UT, mystery JBA carrier again,
while the TV set is off. A couple others at 0730 but then gone with
the TV off: 1159.47, 1360.02 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
