** ARGENTINA [non]. 9455, Fri May 8 from 2310 or so, I`m running N9AZZ
IL SDR on the WRMI relay of RAE, which is in Portuguese; in the
background, but at 2333 I realize they are talking about other SW
stations, so a DX segment must have started, but is it olds or news?
Continuous musical background. About Radio 567, 4970, Australia, best
time to hear it in S America around 0600 UT - that is a bit early
before sunset in NSW. Then on to station on 4010, must be Kyrgyzstan,
that it has two brief English times at 0115 & 0415 Mon-Sat -- news to
me, and to WRTH. Spanish from Turkey times and frequencies are B25!
all wrong for now A26. Indonesia Spanish which is never going to reach
America. Only Mart? bc is M-F 14-22 on 11860 & 13605 -- NOT! 13605 was
B frequency and sked now is daily and later into the night, four
frequencies at once. Until 2340 outro as Atualidade DX, info from
Arnaldo Slaen. Algo atrasado en Argentina (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, May 8 at 2158, RHC English with Richard Richards just
ending, S9/+10 and // 15140 S9+10/20 softer with windhowl. By 2204
recheck both of these are in dead air. `Ed Newman` often refers to a
``second hour`` in English but it`s entirely unclear when it`s aired
vs first hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 95.5, May 8 circa 2015 UT, undermodulated mono rock
music, pirate with very short range of a few blox centred at S
Cleveland and W Garriott in Enid, still running when I`m close enough
with the caradio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500, 15520, 17715, May 8 at 2159, ops normal at REE,
progressively weaker but still good signals, all of them modulating,
but none at all on 15390. If it`s Friday there must be no token
English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, May 8 at 2157, 2201, no signals from VOT English
here nor on accidentalternate 9875; nor at 2228 check into UTwente.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 4095, May 8 at 0652 UT, sweeps upward are JBA in noise level
S7/S8, so DW, the ``Desert Whooper`` somewhere in the Southwest, is
still active (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2346 monitoring: confirmed first SW
BC, Friday May 8 at 1313 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA S6 direct.

Many thanks for a very generous contribution via PayPal to woradio at
yahoo.com from Chris Campbell, Columbus OH, ``I can't exactly put a
price on what you provide but it's worth a hell of a lot of money!``
One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, UT Saturday May 9 at 0100, WTWW is on with open
carrier for weekly? transmission; 0103 ID and into some religious
program which originally aired in a ``morning``. VG signal direct, so
prospects are good for WOR to appear at 0300; if not immediately, hang
around: sometimes has started late (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7490, UT Saturday May 9 at 0000 into NH SDR, WBCQ with WTO
opening `AAAWWW`. This remote has WWV jumping around, so no good now
for precision frequencies. Talkovers theme: ``OK, OK``; ``World needs
shortwave radio more than ever now``; ``hope``. May be new. A&A launch
right into their Trump Derangement, Angela especially yelling at us,
no mike chex this time. It`s recent enough for Iran war to be
mentioned. But I can`t take any more of that, tune away at 0010. For
the record, 5130 was on by 2356 May 8 with IS & ID loop; no signals on
3265, 6160 or 9330 before 2400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Re: " UNIDENTIFIED. 790, May 7 at 0648 UT, ID as 106.5 KBBX?
I am more sure of the FM frequency than the call, but hunting thru NRC
AM Log and WTFDA FM Database, cannot find anything fuzzily similar or
correlating these two frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)":
``I wonder if KURM is back on the air, perhaps just to keep the
license alive. Before they went silent, they were simulcasting KBVA
106.5 which is phonetically similar to what you heard. 73 Tim`` Hall.
Tnx, Tim, you are a big help with my unIDs!
KURM is in Rogers AR, surely easily heard here if on, U2 5000/500.
Radio-locator.com says ``KURM-AM 790 kHz Rogers, Arkansas "Dial a
Trade Station"`` Currently Off the Air AM station, and does not
display coverage maps if it were not off! It`s in NW AR, per NRC
Pattern Book, ND daytime, direxional west at night. FCC LMS says
licensed and silent as of 08/09/2025; facility ID 34266.
790, I stay on it the next night May 8: amid heavy QRM, at 0624 UT, I
think I hear KURM mentioned in passing. At 0701, ABC news, maybe other
station, but then mention KBDA? and ``Rogers``. Awake again at 1117
UT, mentions ``Northwest Arkansas`` and ``Freedom 101.5`` and I think
another FM station. Anyhow, this surely clinches it as KURM back on
air. Meanwhile I had emailed the address on record for KURM at FCC
LMS, [email protected] --
``?Hello, last night I was hearing a station on 790, that sounded like
KURM, also mentioned FM 106.5. I wonder if KURM is back on the air?
This was at 1:48 am CDT Thursday May 7. Regards, Glenn Hauser, Enid
OK`` - and the May 8 reply!
``Kurm is back but is currently mirroring kbva 106.5 until our studios
are done, around the end of this month, then it will air its old
schedule``
Per WTFDA FM Database, KBVA is in Bella VistA, ``Lite 106.5``. Has no
``Freedom 101.5`` in AR or anywhere; of the five 101.5s in AR, the
closest one is KXVB Greenland, ``The Vibe`` with classic hiphop.
``Tnx Glenn. Happy to help. Your Freedom 101.5 is co-owned KXVB
Greenland AR.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KXVB 73 Tim`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
