** ASCENSION. 21645, May 24 at 1437, JBA music S3 = noise level, the
OSOB. Aoki & EiBi show BBC in Hausa at 1300-1700 on Day 7 only =
Saturday, but this is Sunday! EiBi also has on 21645, CNR1 jamming and
SOH but supposedly not between 13 and 22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 21260 USB, May 23 at 2235, PY5AS calling CQ DX - only once,
long pause, and once again. Only phone I`m getting on this band, after
deadbands 28 and 24 MHz. QRZ.com: ``PY5AS Brazil flag Brazil, Sergio
Aparecido Souza, CP 1222, SÃO MARTINHO, PR 86609000, Brazil`` If he
can put a tilde on the capital A of Sao, why won`t he put an acute on
the E of Sergio? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 14670 CUSB, May 23 at 2241, very accurate timesignal in UTC
from ``CHU, Canada`` - in case you haven`t heard, the NRC has
announced that CHU will be closed down on June 22. First reported by
Tony Pavick May 21, from:
https://nrc.canada.ca/en/certifications-evaluations-standards/canadas-official-time/nrc-shortwave-station-broadcasts-chu

without justification, explanation or apology. A very negative
response from the SWL community, but who cares about us? They won`t
even refer clocklisteners to the WWVs instead. The other CHUs: 7850
CUSB & 3330 CUSB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, May 23 at 2244, RHC deadair except for windhowl and
hum, S9+10 direct. Also 11880 at 2246 S9+10 clear deadair (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140 & 11760, Sun May 24 at 1456, RHC concluding weekly ``La
música en el cine latinoamericano`` outro until same time next week;
1457 headlines, 1500 IS & ID, plus three 24h FM frequencies in Habana
and a few other locations on 102.5, 103.1, 91.7; 1501 IS and open
weekly Esperanto. The announcers cannot break themselves of Spanish
accenting words on anything but penultimate as required in Esperanto:
``Amériko``, ``polítiko``. Still giving far out-of-date sked for three
Esp`o broadcasts, Sundays at 0800 on 6100, not copied details of the
others but probably at 1600 on something, 2230? Are these old repeats,
or current ones clueless about true axual sked? The Esperanto listing
``as of 10.05.2026`` at ADDX via
https://www.addx.de/cgi-bin/hfp.cgi
shows nothing but five CRI transmissions! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Sun May 24 at 1943, t/in RHC just as `Ed Newman` is
starting a Mailbag show - says he is glad it`s not on TV; sound
engineer and operator is Jesús. P O Box 6240, Habana, or
[email protected] - 1) Jason Grigsby, Mt Airy NC truck driver on hwy. 2)
Joe Walton, Norfolk VA. 3) David Wade, Maryland. 1949 half-time music
for a few sex. 4) Thomas Runw?, Germany on 6000. 5) Junior Harris?,
Grenada. 6) Ralph Benson, UK. 7) Marzio Paravon?, Italy. 8) Sergei
Ivanov, Moscow, Russia, with love. 9) Chris Campbell, Columbus OH. 10)
someone, Canada. 22) Grant Skill?, England. 1954 out of time. Oops,
there was another on between 3 and 4, Siddartha Papajarjee, New Delhi,
as also heard on Turkey (Glenn Hauser OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 13735-13740-13745, May 23 at 2243, S9 of DRM noise. Not in
HFCC, but in EiBi: irr. 2200-2300 from TDF Issoudun in French to E
Africa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955.1 AM, May 24 at 0231, beeps, pirate talk, in
HSNL. Reports here as merely 6955 AM, unID turning into Liquid Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,164056.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1300, May 24 at 0706, ``Real Talk`` non-ID. No such
slogan in NRC AM Log, not even for KAKC Tulsa, which is the hit in
broad websearch, primary slogan ``The Patriot``. Patriot of course
always means Far Right on the radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1390, May 24 at 0702 UT, local KCRC Enid, dead air of
S9+60, also // 1640 KZLS dead air but see USA for a log thru it. At
0704, they have started modulating with ``live`` play-by-play of local
silly baseball game at David Allen Memorial Park downtown. In the
night-middle?! Intentional replay or totally bonkers? Two different
sites and 1640 running about 3 words behind 1390 (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** TIBET. In case you are inclined to acquiesce to China`s cultural
genocide of Tibet and not grant it at the very least,
``radio-country`` status, look at this:
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/documentary/battle-for-tibet/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, May 23 at 2245, VOT not off the air, S8 direct but
unusable vs 11780 Brasil splash. Why won`t they take my advice and go
to 11790, 795 or 800? If they don`t believe me that they are open,
could easily confirm by own monitoring, too much of a task? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11660.005-, Sun May 24 at 1644, VOT S9+15/25 backward into
UTwente as `Letterbox` starts, with Cemre. Supposedly spring but
chilly in Ankara, radiators still running. 9-day Eid holiday started
Saturday. She filed monthly report this week with management about
listener mail in April & May. 1) Mr Hidetsu? Miyake?, Hiroshima,
Japan, likes May, good time for traveling. 23 April is Children`s Day
in Turkey. 2) Miss Mei Lin, Sichuan province, China, nice stamps on
envelope, listened to Chinese on 17775; Year of the Horse. 3)
Siddartha Papajarjee, India, Eid greetings, is World Red Cross Day
observed in Turkey on 8 May? Yes, make that Red Cross & Red Crescent.
4) Amar? --?-- Bane?, India, SWL club, heard 17620 via Netherlands
SDR; about World Children`s Day 23 April. 5) Mr. Christos?, Black
Forest, Germany. 6) Peter Ng, Johore Bahru, Malaysia, delayed report
from Feb. 1659 ending, 1700 theme (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2348 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
May 23 at 1538 the 1530 on WRMI 9955, JBA into Bonaire where it`s
aimed vs HNL. No signal into occasional HK4RAU SDR in Colombia, but
S9+15/20 off the back into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday May 23 at 1600 on WRN via WRMIs: 9395,
S9+20/30; and 7730 JBA S5/7 both into Georgia SDR.

into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday May 23 at 1930 on SW Radio Gold, Germany, 3975
S9, and 6160 louder S9 both into recommended Bedford UK SDR.

Not confirmed the 1930v Saturday May 23 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, usual
summer problem of no remotes close enough or good enough to pull it vs
noise level; however, N9AZZ in IL has trace of talk modulation, maybe
me.

Also confirmed Saturday May 23 after 2000 on WRN Europe stream.

Also confirmed Saturday May 23 at 2128 the 2100 on WRMI 9395, S9+30
into Georgia SDR.

webcast only.

** U S A. 7570, Sun May 24 at 0642, WRMI-5, S9+10/15 with music, W&M
talk, but JBM! As usual, skedgrid is totally self-contradictory; Xmtr
sked atop shows System C at this hour with `Legends`. But System C
sked itself shows a 2-hour break at 06-08 after 7570, before 7780.
System E sked claims WRN this hour along with 7! other frequencies,
but in fact only 3 of those with WOR. And 7570 not accounted for this
hour on any other System (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 880, May 24 at 0246 UT, Mexmx and ``La Tremenda`` non-ID:
also loops ENE/WSW: WIJR Highland IL beyond St Louis MO; heavy QRM
with KRVN. KRVN night pattern is somewhat pulled in toward NYC but not
a notch; oval major lobe to south, close to meward from Lexington NE
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1000 kHz, May 24 at 0711 UT, ``99-9, The Fan`` non ID.
Normally expect WMVP Chicago to be ruining reception of KTOK even in
OK; not many sports formats on 1000, or maybe KSOO Sioux Falls SD,
both with ESPN, but neither correlates with 99.9 in NRC AM Log; and
the only such slogan in the WTFDA FM Database is WCMC-FM Holly Springs
NC, but no connexion to 1000 kHz! What about radio-locator? WMVP is
apparently 1000 AM only. KSOO has a KSOO FM on 99.1, but different
format, while KSOO (AM) has translator on 102.3. WCMC-FM 99.9 The Fan
serves Raleigh/Durham market, but why am I hearing it on 1000? The
only 1000 in NC in NRC AM Log is Spanish 1 kW daytimer, WRTG Garner. I
suppose that leaves most likely explanation as 99-9 The Fan mentioned
on the ESPN network, so likely just WMVP (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1280, Sun May 24 at 0707 UT, ``Star Spangled Banner`` is
playing -- o, what a rarity these days on the radio! So somestation
signing off? No, right into talkshow with phone 877-381-3811, which is
far-right extremist Mark Levin. Already suspecting ``The Patriot``
[sic], WWTC Minneapolis, and he is in fact on sked for 2-5 am CDT.
WWTC strangely runs sesquipower at night of 15 kW vs daytime 10 kW.
Both day and night patterns have minor lobes moreorless thisaway
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1640 kHz, May 24 at 0703 UT during deadair pause of local
KZLS, ``Relevant Radio``, i.e. WSJP Sussex WI [Milwaukee, but address
in Lincolnshire IL per NRC AM Log] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7200 USB, May 23 at 2249, ham QSO on USB instead of
customary LSB, discussing radioactive waste deposits in salt mines,
maybe K5FTP and N0SS? Something like that. Meanwhile a much weaker QSO
on 7200 LSB, the favorite frequency of naughty hams. On 7200 LSB at
0235 May 24, mixture of music and swearing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9160.5 LSB, May 24 at 0645, 2-way JBA, seems Spanish
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15048-15073 approx., May 24 at 0247, rapid pulsing, OTH
radar in typical 25-kHz bandwidth. Is there any way to identify these?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
