** ARGENTINA [non]. 9455, June 16 at 2303, RAE Portuguese via WRMI, VG
into Georgia SDR, it`s Tuesday when a DX Olds show has appeared, but
right now talking about some silly ballgame; recheck at 2309 it is
about DX, a clandestine for Ethiopia on 15215, 1700-1810 on Wed-Sat,
from RMI via TDF ISS starting 1 May *2024*; and on 5130, Sedaye
Zindagi in Dari, did not catch details. Both these still appear in
EiBi; and the 15215 in RMI`s own grid but at 1700-1730 on Wed & Sat
only. Perhaps lucked out with DX olds which is still more or less
current? 2310 program ID as `Atualidade DX` by Arnaldo Slaen. And
multi-lingual RAE ID filler reel played twice; 2312 tune repeating,
IS? and back to futebol stuff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, June 17 at 2228, S9+10/20 of deadair from RHC with
some howl, no sign of any other frequencies, SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ITALY. 21305 USB, June 17 at 2223, IK0ETA working a VK3 via
longpath and then calling QRZ other VKs/ZLs by longpath. QRZ.com:
``IK0ETA Italy flag Italy, Paolo Noschese, Via Picenza 107/d, SALERNO
84100, Italy`` only phone signal heard on band after none on 24 and 28
MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 5140 USB, June 17 at 1400 UT, another attempt to monitor
the weekly Wednesday, Oklahoma Operations Secure HF Test Net: nothing
at first vs S8/S9 noise level. 1401 YL voice counting JBA, and pause.
It`s Breanna in Edmond, the NCS, WSHM692. At 1402 I can barely make
out a few on the rollcall roster, `443 in Beckham County, and `836
Byng who replies but unreadable. Then WNPV700 Durant who replies with
his outstanding signal, Bill with no traffic. In her next call to `374
Leflore County, her modulation drops out, and nothing more heard until
a bit of her at 1407, so I quit at 1408 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 89.3, June 17 at 1702 UT, deadair in mono on 89.3, i.e.
KIEL Loyal OK, 3.8 kW ERP, 47 m HAAT; by 2345 check it`s off the air.
This is/was R. 74 Internationale, a strange station apparently
originating in France but religion in English and part of the 3ABN
family as it also has an ``audio only`` subchannel on K17JN-D in Enid,
mis-IDing as K17JI-D, currently still off the air (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 24945 USB, June 16 at 2208, EA7JZ, Carlos in SW Spain, 1 kW,
homebrew antenna, working a K4. QRZ.com: ``EA7JZ Spain flag Spain,
LOTW OR MANAGER,
CARLOS VELAZQUEZ, EL PUERTO DE SANTA MARIA 11500, Spain`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715, Wed June 16 at 2225, S9/+10 of deadair in token
English, direct from REE`s weekly, and still dead at 2338 after
English, and still2 at 2441, S9+20/30 into Georgia SDR. Something`s
nullified at Noblejas. Fortunately, 15500 at S9+20/30 and 15520 at
S9+10/20 already managed to modulate from start of English, tuned in
at 2201, while 15390 remains AWOL. It seems Daniel is doing all the
announcing this week with his extremely heavy accent. Topix included:
refugees in Canarias, Zapatero to prove innocence, Sánchez branded a
co-ward. Mrs. Sánchez to be tried by jury. Pope Leo XIV has left after
seven hectic days visiting Spain, speaking Catalan at Barcelona,
finally to Canarias. US/Iran peace agreement; 2213-2216 Beirut
correspondent on Israel still striking Lebanon; G7 summit as I tune
out for some hamscanning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, June 16 at 2200, VOT not off the air, but JBA
carrier unusable even if there weren`t Brasil on 11780. Something`s
always awry at Ankara, i.e. not ordering Emirler at least to move to a
clear frequency, three nearby I have repeatedly given them (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, June 17 at 2205 and later, no signal direct from VOT
English. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 18143 USB, June 16 at 2203, W1C calling CQ World Cup, QRZ.
What have silly ballgames to do with ham radio? Beats me. Read all
about it at
https://www.qrz.com/db/W1C
``W1C USA flag USA, WC2026SES World Soccer Tournament, 6471 Woodbine
Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19151`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2351 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
June 16 at 2251 the 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10 direct.

Also confirmed Tuesday June 16 at 2347 the 2330 on SW Radio Gold,
Germany, 3975.001+, S9+10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday June 17 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+20/35
into Georgia remote.

Also confirmed Wednesday June 17 at 1930.7 on SW Radio Gold, Germany,
6160.001- S8/S9 and 3975.001 S9+10/15 into UTwente.

Just 100 minutes before the next scheduled airing, on WBCQ 7490 at
2100 Wednesday, this FYI received presumably from Allan Weiner
himself: ``Hi Glenn,
I have moved "World Of Radio" with Glenn Hauser to Monday nights at
7:30 pm to make room for Westlake Baptist Church's "Redemption Radio"
at 5 pm est {sic} on Wednesday nights on 7.490 per your request.`` - I
don`t recall making such a request but this is certainly an
improvement, airing while it`s 2 days newer and 2+ hours later for
less daytime absorption, and fills a gap among other WOR airings, i.e.
2330 UT Mondays. And indeed the new preacher did start today at 2100.
I see that the never up to date WBCQ program schedule still shows
`Jesus to the Nations`` Mondays at 2330; henceforth, ``Glenn to the
Nations``. Evidently WOR #2351 gets lost in this last-minute WBCQ
shuffle.

Confirmed Wednesday June 16 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+30/35 into
Georgia SDR. Next:

1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Thursday WRMI 5950 to NNW.

Thanks this week for a check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box
1684, Enid OK 73702, ``Glenn, Thanks for all you do to keep our great
hobby alive. Keep up your good work. Your Old Pal, Doug Brown, London
ON, Canada``

World of Radio and Laser International: Notice from Gary Drew June 12:
``Hi Glenn, Unfortunately Laser Gold is closing as did LG2. Your show
will live on as a streaming file on the Laser Hot Hits International
website going forward. Laser International

We are Laser Hot Hits the shortwave legend broadcasting free radio on
the internet 24 hours a day with classic hits and oldies. Global and
regional outlets are available on AM, FM and DAB. Thanks for the
listings and I will keep in touch. 73, Gary. Gary Drew Worldwide 🌐``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 610 kHz, June 17 at 0650 UT, ``You are listening to 96-5 The
Fan`` - no, I`m listening to the inconsequential KFNZ Kansas City, U1
5/5 kW; née WDAF. At least 96.5 is more than a mere translator (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 780, June 17 at 0640 UT, no signal from WBBM or anything
else, yet 720 WGN and 670 WSCR are nominally strong as usual. WBBM
must be off. This is when we habitually tune for the 2-minute
`StarDate`, around our too-late bedtime. Another check at 0719: now
WBBM is on. As for StarDate, it normally follows ``traffic & weather
on the eights``, with a timecheck of 40 minutes past `the` hour. This
is a replay of several hours earlier in the evening, and the exact
times are not always accurate. Nor is the proper episode always
played. WBBM always starts the playback right *after* the opening
giving the ``for`` date - and what to see `this evening` isn`t always
clear whether it`s already too late. WBBM never attempts to play it on
UT Sundays, occasionally missing other nights (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 880, June 17 at 0722 UT, ``La Tremenda ... La Raza`` Spanish
QRMing KRVN NE, i.e. WIJR Highland IL near St Louis, U4 1700/160; an
accomplishment, even if only on rather low day power (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re: [FMDX-NA] Glenn Hauser Es FM DX June 10-11, part 2 of 2
--- Wed, Jun 17 at 7:19 AM --- Frank Merrill: ``Good job for just
writing stuff down via analog methods - you had to be incredibly busy
to capture all those details and transcribe them! How did you manage
to get all that written down, and still DX? I ask, even though most of
your text is analysis, rather than reception details. Some
observations:

92.1 classical - though too close for your PTA, I wouldn't rule out a
rogue appearance of WBST Muncie IN. At least the direction is more or
less correct, and they definitely get out well, and even the briefest
reception of classical is gonna "stick out like a sore thumb." They
are NPR.

94.9 WQMS Medina OH: What you heard was a weather alert for Summit
COUNTY, which is adjacent-east to Medina County. That's Akron, and
WQMS has always been very much an "Akron" station. Going back into
ancient history, they were originally licensed to Barberton, a
substantial suburb SW of Akron.

95.1 - "from Newcastle to Springfield" is a definite puzzler. Nothing
even in the extended PTA makes any sense. No Newcastle IL. Where
there's a Newcastle, I can't pinpoint a Springfield within 80 or 90
miles, or vice versa. Newcastle PA makes the most sense [Grove City]
but no Springfield is in the ballpark at all. I would KNOW a Newcastle
OH if it was worthy of being mentioned in a station's coverage! Even
more so a Newcastle MI (Springfield is a suburb of Battle Creek), but
with 95.3 Battle Creek no 95.1 could claim that Springfield anyway. I
likewise don't know a Springfield IN worthy of mention. This may be
sort of like the "phantom" HOLLYWOOD that I'm SURE was co-mentioned in
my 1990s Winona MS tropo reception (curiously also on 95.1, lol),
there's no Hollywood near Winona. Wiki shows a tiny one near Tunica
which is entirely out of range.

94.1 WWDK Jackson MI - SURELY what you had with the DeWitt mention.
DeWitt is also a suburb of Syracuse and I doubt there's a 94.1 near
there with Syracuse's huge 94.5. If I remember correctly, Jackson 94.1
moved their stick north long ago, to be halfway between Jackson and
Lansing, which is actually a very clever move as they can put
city-grade into both places``

Tnx, Frank!! I scribble rapidly in my notebook as I keep tuning
around, both mostly right-handed. Sometimes I can`t make out what I
wrote, especially if I don`t start typing the reports ASAP (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
