Subject: [HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs July 17-18, 2026
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

** CUBA. 5013/5038, July 18 at 0655, R. Rebelde 5025 is splattering
out to this range, very unusual, maybe further but lost in the storm
noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 11710, July 18 at 1300, VOK opening stilted English
with Song of General Kim Il-Sung, then 1304 Song of General Kim
Jung-Il --- but no Song of #3 currently in power, into talk at 1306
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. Huge sporadic E FM DX opening July 18. DXMAP showed the
Zapopan DXer getting numerous paths from OK and vicinity, so I start
tuning the caradio at 1625 UT. Almost all the `open` frequencies in
the lower half of FM band have Spanish on them, starting with 87.9,
and a few override closer stations. Unfortunately, a lot of fading and
definitely IDing many of them is unlikely, but it will take a while to
do all the research. Some locations seemingly involved are Sinaloa,
Durango, Jalisco, Puebla. Timespans 1625-1654, 1735-1817, 1914-1930
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 13, KETA 13, OETA, surprised to find PBS Newshour July
17 at 2300 UT is a *replay* of last night`s, before Trump`s address!
Finally at 2306 cut to the new show cued into start of news skipping
the opening credits. And the final story was cut short to dead air and
then usual interim promos, etc. about 2356. Was this a SNAFU at OETA
or PBS HQ? I thought it was `live` at 2300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Sporadic E FM DX chase UT Sat July 18 from 0050
on caradio after some extremely high MUFs earlier today to 175 MHz
east of here, i.e. would bounce channel A7 TVideo. But this is all I
manage to 0130 or so:

101.9 at 0052, KTST OKC with weather from the ``4 Warn Storm Center``,
i.e. KFOR-TV, really RF 27; earlier also heard 97.5 KZLF Alva with
weather from same source. Must be good side-hustles for TV
meteorologists

91.5 at 0103, Bott Radio Network CCI to KSNS Medicine Lodge KS; that
would be another KS:
KARF 91.5 INDEPENDENCE KS RELIGIOUS TEACHING BOTT RADIO NETWORK 78930
100.0 kW vertical only 100.0 m vertical only! 37-03-55 95-45-01 11BF
215/133

104.9 at 0111, ``Alice 104-9``:
KKWD 104.9 BETHANY OK VARIETY HITS ALICE 104.9 6509 6.0 kW 100.0 m
35-29-53 97-37-10 2CA7 Artist/Title Rock HD is Off 101/63
There are 8 other Alices in the USA; an obscure significance, or
random naming?

92.9 at 0114, French YL rapidly speaking, seems Canadian, briefly
overcomes OKC translator at The Edge of KOMA 92.5. WTFDA shows no FF
in the US on 92.9 and only two full-power in Canada, never mind
mini-Haitians:
CKSB-1-FM relay of:CKSB-1050 92.9 STE-ROSE-DU-LAC MB NEWS/TALK ICI
RADIO-CANADA PREMIERE 900299 5.42 kW 43.4 m 51-04-15 99-31-18 French

But DXMAP shows no paths now between MB and OK, yet a heavy nexus
circa West Virginia, which could lead to this by double hop: if only I
could be certain!
CKLE-FM 92.9 BATHURST NB CAN ADULT CONTEMPORARY FM 92.9 900300 100.0
kW 137.0 m 47-27-45 65-29-01 French - which would be: 2913 km/1810 st
mi; however the midpoint of that path would be
between Toronto and Lac Huron. O well.

92.9 a few minutes later, K225BN, 200 watt translator in OKC of
KOMA-HD2 `The Edge` at 267.7 meters achieves full quieting, unusual
(Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 97.3, July 18 at 0455 UT I am again checking for Es DX,
and find EWTN Radio here and then multi-station ID for Oklahoma
Catholic Radio, including 104.9 Ringwood-Enid, of which I never hear a
trace. 97.3 is KKNG-FM Blanchard, 1 kW, normally inaudible here but
now loud & clear (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 107.1, July 18 at 1626, 1646, 1809, 1918, 1954, 2046 UT,
while patrolling for Es FM DX from Mexico, could not help but notice
that one of Enid`s main radio stations, KNID is broadcasting nothing
but dead air in $tereo; and RDS as __KNID__ so that`s all DXers at the
other end need, hi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 1080, July 18 at 0647 UT, Brother Scare is
overriding KRLD Dallas! Yes, that`s him, a few seconds ahead of feed
to 5920 WTWW. An ID at 0659 sounded like WNKR but nothing such listed;
then back to TOMBS with phone number 843-701-5053 which is the one on
the website, where there is no 1080 station listed, and they want *us*
to tell *them* what stations heard on:

https://overcomerministry.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/OVERCOMER-MINISTRY-RADIO-LOG-2026-Google-Docs.pdf
There is however, 24h WWCS listed on 540, from PA, but this is no
second harmonic. To override KRLD likely some station on day power and
pattern. Check whether this recur! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7302 USB, Sat July 18 at 1310, Air Force MARS net, calls
AFA6 + one or two letters. Apparently checking in order, but someone
calls for a propagation check on another frequency, RG3, and they
eventually move to wherever that be (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2356 monitoring: not confirmed

NOT confirmed Saturday July 18 at 1938 on WRMI 9395, which per
skedgrid is still supposed to be with WRN at this time which includes
WOR; instead, another intrusion by the heavily commercial `Legends`

Confirmed Saturday July 18 at 1941 the 1930v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO;
