UNIDENTIFIED. 750 kHz, July 20 at 0529 UT, dead air atop talk in

UNIDENTIFIED. Re: UNID carrier (~810.5) and spurs (1441.65 / 1458.35)
Hi Glenn, Just following up on the mysterious carrier around 810.5 -
810.6 kHz, and the spurs around 1441.65 and 1458.35 kHz, which you
noted several months ago and I also found on my Nevada-Utah border
DXpedition recordings from October 24-28, 2025: I checked several
dozen of my recordings, and found the following:
For the 1450 spurs, they were definitely strongest on my NENE (56
degrees) and ENE (64 degrees) wires. As I checked the other wires that
were north and south of those two, the spurs tapered off more slowly
as I went further north (counter-clockwise), and more rapidly as I
went further south (clockwise). Interestingly, I have yet to find a
carrier exactly between the two spurs, but KBFS was almost always
found roughly 25Hz above the midpoint of the two spur frequencies.
KBFS is 50 degrees from my location. KBFS was identifiable in almost
every recording where the spurs were detected, and no other station
was present in any substantial percentage of the recordings where the
spurs were noted, so KBFS remains my prime suspect. The only evidence
I have against KBFS would be one recording at 1400 UT where KBFS was
audible but the spurs were not. However, that recording was from my
NNW wire (340 degrees, nowhere near KBFS), and 1400 UT was half an
hour after Belle Fourche sunrise. KBFS' "Close Encounters" sounder
makes them very easy to identify at the top of the hour, even when
their signal is fairly weak. Other stations in this general antenna
direction (and which could still be heard with a strong signal at 1300
UT as in one of my recordings) would include the Minnesota stations,
KYNT, KEYY and KVOW.
The off-frequency 810 signal was more problematic. Although it was
slightly more prevalent and stronger on my southern wires, it was
heard on almost half of the recordings on my other wires. On one
recording on my ESE (116 degrees) wire, it appeared suddenly at 0100
UT. KXOI (125 degrees) remains my prime suspect, if only because I
have eliminated all other western US stations on 810 (by logging them
on frequency) as well as the surviving Mexican stations on 810
(assuming the ones believed to be silent in recent years were still
silent). KXOI used to be a pest for me at this location, but I have
not logged them since they went silent for much of the early 2020s.
The off-frequency signal was noted as late as 1300 UT, which is almost
exactly sunrise time for those mornings in Crane, Texas.
