The forces of darkness conspired against my computer this morning and put it out of
commission for a while, thus my late start...I'm gonna have to make this somewhat
short...We've also got some early "pre-pro" going on today (that's tv talk for
pre-production, or stuff that has to be prepared before you actually go on air) which
is putting a crimp in my schedule...
We'll lead with Howard who will survey the political topography inside the White House
with respect to Bush delaying his Middle East speech, Cheney chastising the Hill for
leaks, Card dissed for the top Homeland Security slot, etc..
Noted Gulf War correspondent Peter Arnett joins us for a reflection on Iraq ten years
later and the possible plans to confront Hussein once again..
Lieberman will do the Ridge hearing stuff, Bush's palestinian state speech and his
possible run for 1600 Pennsylvania, Ave...We'll ask him about his pledge to Gore (to
not run if Gore decides to run)...You won't want to miss his answer
U.S. Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge vowed on Thursday to work with Congress to
ensure that President Bush's proposed department to combat terrorism would fix a key
problem exposed by the Sept. 11 attacks: failure by the CIA and FBI to share

I was dining al fresco last night in Foggy Bottom and saw a rather determined fast and
low flying helicopter heading in the direction of the White House...I suppose this was
the reason...A Cessna pilot who apparently got lost over the nation's capital prompted
the evacuation of the White House after flying through restricted airspace and getting
