The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Clearly today's big story: President Bush takes his case against Iraq to the United
Nations...We'll "slice and dice it" (I can't help myself when it comes to the food
metaphors) with the Big Guns: Bibi (Netanyahu of course), John Warner (Top GOPer on
Senate Armed Services...Wants Iraq Hearings) & a top Dem tbd...I think Graham may be
one of the players...
But first, the "Big" housekeeping news: You've heard the rumors and innuendos, now I'm
going to confirm them...Hardball hits the road again on the famous, some say infamous,
College Tour...Beginning next Wednesday the 18th and every Wednesday thereafter we're
hitting a new campus across the country with the biggest newsmakers, one on
one....Part Hardball, part town hall meeting, we'll bring the audience in for the fun
as well...And get this, you're invited!
Tomorrow our hot shot "dot commers" in Secaucus are going "live" with the College Tour
website...We'll post the essential info on the tour and of course, as a privileged
member of the Hardball viewing audience, you'll get the scoop in the Briefing as
well...We already have a number of dates lined up but I'm only at liberty to plug the
first few....
9/18: MN Governor Jesse Ventura at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities campus)
Northrop Memorial Auditorium http://www.northrop.umn.edu/index.html
84 Church St SE, Minneapolis (612) 624-2345
Doors open at 6:30 pm local cst time...First come, first serve..no tickets
necessary...I'd give them a jingle in you're interested just to double check on the
time...Life is uncertain..
9/25 House Majority Leader Dick Armey @ George Mason Univerity, here in Arlington,
VA...I'll probably even show up for that one myself...
10/2 MA Senator and possible presidential contender John Kerry at the Citadel in South
Carolina...
Back to the show at hand: We'll play the sound, we'll play the congressional
reax...You'll see it all tonight on Hardball...Then, in the "C" block we'll talk to
Howard Fineman about the speech, the politics behind it and maybe throw in a little
Florida Fiasco stuff. (At this hour, McBride is still favored)...
The D block debate asks the "big question": Why Iraq? Why not other countries such as
Iran or Syria?...Jed Babbin (former Bush I defense official) is into "regime change"
big time...Fmr. Clinton NSCer Nancy Soderberg says we don't have a coherent policy and
that should come first before any military action...
The Real Deal will probably be a SOT from Clinton on Letterman last night, plus more
from the Florida fiasco...That will segue nicely into Mike Griffin from the Orlando
Sentinel for the remainder of E block...
And you'll never guess who the Green party may be recruiting to run for President!!
Btw, Consummate Washingtonian and "Real Deal's" own Howard Mortman makes his debut on
MS's Opinions page....That leads our "Fun Clinton News" section...
For the blowout Buzz section: Pat Caddell returns to vent on Florida and Iraq!!!
Florida Congressman Mark Foley (R) will do the Buzz as well...

U.S. News & World Report because the Washington-based newsweekly hasn't kept a promise
to clarify a recent report that the cable network offered the White House a cheesy
quid pro quo involving that al Qaeda video of dogs being gassed.
