            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Well, we had a lot of fun last night at George Mason University...The crowd was pumped
(after some pre-show "Bon Jovi concert style" priming by our producers...You remember
the old Metal concerts from the '80's don't you? "Which side of the audience can
scream louder"? type of deal). Chris was doing his usual stand up comedy routine in
his own inimitable way as well...Off stage I slapped Chris on the back and repeated
his favorite slogan "let's go for greatness tonight" adding "and when you plug that
Briefing on the air tonight, do it with gusto and sincerity"...Well, at least he got
the website right...

And speaking of plugging the Briefing, I gotta give a huge shout out to Ben Wyche of
the Cato Institute who exhibited brass cajones when he grabbed the microphone, stood
up on stage in front of the auditorium and announced why he loved the Briefing...He
even threw in at the end, "and it's written with pizzaz by some guy named Dominic
Bellone"...Dawn, who was moderating the floor, mentioned I was in the balcony and the
whole crowd erupted in cheers...Folks, let me tell you, I felt like a conquering
emperor up there...All I could do was yell at the top of my lungs "Sign up at Hardall
dot MSNBC dot com!!!" Thanks Ben, you're a true Hardball Soldier!

Interactive Quiz Homepage...Geez, this kid Kevin who took the quiz last night was a
stud...He had girls in the audience standing up and yelling "We Love You Kevin"...And
I thought I was getting great publicity last night!

It was a blast...Wish you were there! We'll play some highlights from Armey in the
Real Deal...He had some choice things to say about Bill, Hill and Al...But you were
watching I'm sure..

Anyway, tonight we'll do a follow up on "Milbank's war" as I'm calling it...Dana
Milbank is the guy who wrote the Washington Post piece yesterday that launched the
Daschle tantrum and the White House rebuttal etc., etc...(You've heard of "the West
Bank War" right? Well, this is "the Milbank War")

In the front half of the show we'll do an All Star lineup with Louisiana Democrat
Senator John Breaux, Newsweek columnist George Will and Howard...We'll get the story
behind the story...The story the power brokers in Washington don't want you to know
about...The wheels and deals in the backrooms (insert more favorite cliches
here)...Btw, Chris thinks Daschle's speech was more a shot at Gore than it was
Bush...Stay tuned..

A number of "Members" were at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. this morning confabbing with Bush
over the Iraq resolution....Here's MSNBC's take...Bush makes bipartisan Iraq

Sammon: Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle yesterday accused President Bush of
politicizing the debate over Iraq and demanded an apology in an emotional speech on
the Senate floor. Republicans swiftly criticized Mr. Daschle's speech.
