            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

We've got an action packed show tonight for you folks...Dare I say you may want to
plan your dinner sked around it...Woodward kicks us off with his latest "inside the
Oval Office" look at the Bush administration..."Bush at War" is the name of the book
and it's creating a lot of buzz...We'll talk to him about it for the first couple of
blocks...

Fun Woodward book quotes: "To Rumsfeld, K Street was a low-life refuge for those who
couldn't get real jobs, or didn't have the independence of spirit to leave Washington
once they were through." (p. 283)

Bush on the pundit class: "I don't read the editorial pages. I don't -- the
hyperventilation that tends to take place over these cables, and every expert and
every former colonel, and all that, is just background noise." (p. 259)

Later, Senator-elect Norm Coleman will join us from Minnesota to discuss his agenda in
the Senate, his recent victory over Mondale and what it's like to be the new kid in
town...

And how about Daschle's tirade about Rush and other Rush "wannabes" that are creating
a "very shrill edge" to the political discussion??...Get this, Daschle even believes
that hot rhetoric has created a security threat to his family....Should we get Daschle
some cheese with that whine or does he have a legitimate point??....We'll talk to
Laura "It's not just a radio talk show, it's an addiction" Ingraham
http://www.lauraingraham.com/public/

Hatch on Daschle: "We've all on the conservative side have had our share of attacks by
some of the more liberal pundits. But, you know, I think that's part of politics. I
don't think that's all bad. I think that makes you have to stand up for your opinion
and if you're unwilling to do that, geez, you shouldn't be in here"

This just in from Mortman...Wonder where he got the food analogy language from??!! Tom
Daschle is going out with a bang. A healthy, tangy, Tabasco-tasty bang. In his final
days as Senate majority leader, Daschle is kicking up his rhetoric more than a notch.
He's unleashing a venomous string of adjectives, accusations and assertions that make
for good politics, great reading - and even better TV.
http://www.msnbc.com/news/835074.asp

In the buzz, we'll talk to actor Michael Keaton about his latest role in HBO's "Live
from Baghdad"...Plus, Robert Weiner, the real live producer dude he portrays in the
film...We'll show you some hot clips too!!
http://www.hbo.com/films/upcoming.html?ntrack_para1=latest0_more

All this...plus the infamous Hardball Hotseat!! http://www.msnbc.com/news/810538.asp

Lots of Gore news in the Briefing today...He was out yesterday slamming Bush...Here's
my favorite quote from today's Post: The administration caved to lobbyists for the
industry who demanded of administration officials "that they kneel and kiss their ring
-- and they do." The average investor "was essentially told to go to hell."

As you can see, we've got a full plate tonight...One you won't want to miss...

Hey, gotta request...hit "reply" and give me your thoughts on Hillary last night...I
thought it was pretty hot but definitely not enough time to hit all the issues...

Dominic Bellone wrote, compiled and edited The Briefing from a foggy Washington, DC

One of our readers requested a vegetarian dish...This one's for you...A Vegetarian

make them feel a part of the feast. Vegetarian Roasted Mushroom Lasagna...Btw,

Lloyd Grove lunched with the Gores and had this to say: This time around he wants to
be seen as the laid-back, self-deprecating, emotionally open Al Gore -- and certainly
not as the angry and scolding Al Gore who phoned our Post colleague Liza Mundy at home
last weekend to accuse the paper of violating a news embargo involving Mundy's profile
of him in The Washington Post Magazine.

Jano fired back: "An embargo that both sides agreed upon was broken"
