Tonight we'll lead with the issue of second hand smoke and whether smoking should be
banned in public places such as bars in restaurant (those of you in California and NYC
know what I'm talking about)...A non smoking 57 year old woman, Heather Crowe, has
lung cancer and is blaming it on 40 years of working in smoked-filled
restaurants...She's now cut an ad for an anti-smoking group saying she's dying due to
the effects of second hand smoke...We'll talk to her about her struggle and what
should or shouldn't be done to prevent further cases like Heather's....
In the B/C blocks we'll talk to EPA Christie Todd Whitman, who's soon stepping down
from her position on Friday...She used to also be the Governor of New Jersey which has
a really cool town call Hoboken where Frank Sinatra is from...Fund is from around
those parts as well I believe...Barnicle will ask her what she's learned in Washington
and where she goes from here, yada, yada...I doubt we'll ask her about "da Boken"
though...
Lots of stuff brewing out yonder in Iraq...6 British troops were killed this week and
a number of others injured...Howard Dean is out today slamming the Bush administration
on Iraq and the cognoscenti, represented by Thomas Friedman, is out criticizing Bush's
post war Iraq plan or lack thereof...Is it really all that bad? Did you see that poll
I put in yesterday's Briefing from The Washington Post? 44% of Americans say there's
been an "unacceptable" number of casualties in Iraq...up from 28% in April...I put it
in the Buzz last night but Mike never got to it...We'll take a look at Iraq's
reconstruction and how it's going in the D block...
In the E/F block we're gonna do a legal potpouri on the smart case, obesity laws and a
Philly case of a woman who lured his boyfriend into the woods with the promise of sex
but instead had some friends kill him...
