The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Hardball airs at 7, 11 & 2 am et and 4, 8, 11 pm pt
Tonight I'm issuing a warning to the fans of Hardball...Turn up the air conditioner,
open up the window if the weather's chilly or have a cold beer on hand because lemme
tell you folks, it's gonna get hot tonight...We lead with CBS's fiasco in the wake of
its decision to pull the Reagan mini-series....We'll talk to Ann Coulter and David
Corn, two cable news pros...CBS is giving this hot potato to Showtime but will it
quiet the conservative grassroots? I don't think so judging by Gillespie's challenge
to Showtime (The same one he issued last week to CBS)...We've got the fullscreens
built for the show tonight so don't fret...
In the B block we'll talk to Bernie Goldberg about his new book "Arrogance: Rescuing
America from the Media Elite." He'll weigh in the Reagan mini-series controversy as
well as the state of the media...His last book "Bias" made a huge stir in the media
and I'm sure this new one will create a similar splash....
In the D block we'll debate whether we need more U.S. troops in Iraq or should we
internationalize the effort?
In the E block we'll talk to "The Donald" on the economy, President Bush and
Iraq....Trump, that is, not Rummy...
In the F block, Peggy weighs in on, you guessed it, the Reagan mini series...
Hardball Briefing subscriber and PR whiz gal Debbie Berger threw a helluva party last
night at Zola/Spy Museum with her boss John Podesta to kick off their lefty think
tank, Center for American Progess...The party was populated with the
Clinton/Democratic intelligensia...Hillary, Franken, Kim Gandy, Mikulski, Lockhart,
Sandy Berger, Rosa DeLaura and hubby Stan Greenberg, Al Hunt from the WSJ, Gephardt
campaign honcho Steve Elmendorff, Joe Wilson (of course), CAP research guru David
Sirota, as well a slew of media types: Fox News' Jim Angle, National Review's Byron
York, Cap Report EP Steve Lewis, MSNBC booker Tom Young, Mortman of course, Meet the
Press producer Michelle Jaconi, Anne Schroeder from the Washington Post, The Atlantic
Monthly's Josh Green (Josh also gets props for being a Briefing subscriber as well),
Crossfire's Tucker Carlson & Paul Begala, CBS News' Bill Plante and tonight's guest
David Corn...All that was missing was the K. St. cameras...Lots more folks and I'm
sorry if I didn't get your name in there but it's late and gotta run....
