More on the Real Story in Iraq tonight with Bob Arnot's special packages from the war
zone..."Are we getting anywhere?" "Are we getting anything done?" are the questions
we were kicking around the office yesterday with Chris before the show...That's one of
the overriding themes you'll hear on the show this week...For example, We'll go inside
the training of an Iraqi security force and look at the efforts of the Iraqis to take
care of themselves...We'll also talk to Bernard Kerik, the guy who was charged by
President Bush with putting the Iraqi police together...
A couple other of the "big picture" questions we're asking: What does the average
Iraqi feel about America's presence there? What does the average U.S. service man or
woman think about their mission?
In honor of Veterans Day, The New York Times publishes some moving letters from
recently deceased servicemen and women in Iraq...The Things They Wrote: Letters home
from soldiers in Iraq http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/11/opinion/11INTRO.html
Bush honors soldiers of past, present...Mired in a complicated mission in Iraq,
President Bush is pausing on Veterans Day to reflect on sacrifices being made by U.S.
soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and honor soldiers of wars past. (AP)

One of the other brewing political debates out there we'll tackle is that of troop
levels...Rumsfeld & Bush have steadfastly said more troops are not needed but this
morning Rummy left the door ajar on the matter: "Needless to say, if at any moment
military commanders indicated that they need more US troops, I would certainly
recommend to the president that we do increase the number of troops, but the advice
we're getting is just the opposite," Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld

In the political buzz we'll talk to Howard Fineman and Rod Nordland from Newsweek
who's in Baghdad to slice and dice the President's Arlington Cemetary speech, new
numbers on Iraq and some other stuff TBD...
Rousseaux's essay on Young Republican: College students are usually expected to be
sophomoric in political outlook, only discovering conservative values once they're
finally forced to pick up their own bar tabs
