The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Hardball airs tonight at 7p, 11p & 4a ET and out West at 4p, 8p & 1a PT
Here's a little breaking news heads up on tonight
Matthews: Let me ask you. Do you think McCain is seriously - and I mean this
professionally - flirting with the idea of accepting a second place on the ticket with
John Kerry, and creating a fusion ticket to run against the President.
Biden: .....I think that this is time for unity in this country, and maybe it is time
to have a guy like John McCain - a Republican - on the ticket with a guy he does like.
They do get along. And they don't have fundamental disagreements on major policies.
Matthews: Would you support that ticket ... for President?
Biden: I would. Yeah. If John Kerry said that's who he wanted, and McCain - I'd
encourage McCain to say yes. I doubt whether John would do it. I doubt whether John
McCain would do it. But, you know, we need some unity here, man. The red states and
the blue states - we got to have something to coalesce around here.
Matthews: Well hearing you now Senator, he may say yes. Thank you very much.
Senator Joe Biden of Delaware. Ranking Democrat on Foreign Relations.
Biden also claims that foreign leaders have told him personally that they want a
change of administration...
Attn: Robert Cox, this is definitely a Tivo This! item
Sorry we're so late tonight but it's been crazy around here folks!
President Bush and BC04 come out swinging today challenging Kerry to "back it up" with
facts on which foreign leaders are supporting him...Plus, they've released a new ad in
West Virginia slamming Kerry for being "wrong on defense"....Folks I've already
advised Chris to bring a glass of ice water into the studio because tonight's gonna
get hot...
Plus a new poll has Bush slightly leading Kerry 46 to 43...We'll also show you Kerry's
fav/unfav ratings which show only 28% have a favorable rating...29% unfav and 41% are
either undecided or don't know Kerry...This explains why Bush's ad men are seeking to
"define" Kerry in the voter's minds....
Our all-star panel: Howard, Andrea, Jacques & Fund will hash it all out for the front
half of the show....Then, Joe Biden's on for a couple of blocks to discuss Iraq and
the Bush-Kerry matchup and other fun topics...
We wrap it up with fmr. Secretary of the Army Thomas White on what else? Iraq....
Dig on this...Joking, President Bush referred to Montgomery County Board of
Commissioners President Jim Matthews as "the smart brother." Matthews' iconoclastic
sibling is MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews. (Phoenixville News)
