The next couple of weeks are going to be extremely crazy and busy for us as we prepare
to head off to the DNC convention in Boston so please don't be annoyed if the Briefing
is late or shorter than usual. We'll be broadcasting live from Faneuil Hall in Boston
on Friday night btw...

Tonight Chris is in Los Angeles again...We'll lead with the 9/11 report which is due
out on Thursday...We'll talk to a member of the Senate Intell Committee or another
appropriate expert

RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie stops by to give us his preview of the DNC convention and
what he expects...Think of it as a "pre-buttal" to the Convention...

We'll do politics with Barnicle, Fineman and The New Yorker's Hedrick
Hertzberg...Hertzberg has a new book out titled "Politics: Observations and Arguments,
1966-2004." He used to work with Chris back in their White House days and he's a
pretty sharp guy...

Barnicle and Fineman will do a sort of "run-up to the convention" kind of
thing...Shuster will do a live crosstalk with Chris on the legal strategies each
campaign is putting together for the battleground states for possible recounts and
voting challenges, etc.

We've also got NBC's Pat Dawson doing a spot on the campaigns' political ads and the
specific television shows they are targeting to run the ads...

Here's something fun we're planning for Sunday night...Special documentaries on Dem
convention eve...MSNBC premieres two special hours- "Picking Our Presidents: The
Greatest Moments" and "John Kerry: Bringing the War Home"

GOP pollster Bill McInturff, in a Saturday briefing for the Republican Governors
Association, presented survey results showing that voters are far more responsive to
Sen. John F. Kerry's economic message that talks about a middle-class squeeze than to
President Bush's efforts to change public perceptions by talking up recent economic
statistics. (The Washington Post)
