Today is a "Big Bolton" day so we'll get going right to Norah O'Donnell,
MSNBC's newest Chief Washington Correspondent who has been all over the hearing
for us...The Senaote Foreign Relations Committee sent the nomination to the
floor "without a recommendation", i.e. Bolton does not enjoy the support of a
majority of the Committee but will still get an up/down vote...All eyes were on
Republican Senator George Voinovich whose vote was heretofore unknown... He
clearly indicated that he would vote against an "arrogant" and "bullying"
nominee but did not want to hold up the nomination entirely...It's confusing I
know...We'll explain it all tonight...Bottom line, the full Senate will more
than likely vote to confirm him...
We'll get instant reax from ranking Dem Joe Biden and then throw it out to
Allen (R-VA) & Boxer (D-CA) who sit on the Committee...Three folks in the thick
of today's battle..
Republican rips Bolton, but nomination still on course...'Serious
deficiencies,' Voinovich says; but 3 GOP fence-sitters now back U.N. nominee
(MSNBC) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7819909/
Later we do Donald Trump on the why the guy who designed the "Freedom Tower" to
replace the World Trade Towers is an "egghead"...This is the story Shuster is
really fired up about and has been blogging on recently
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7764695/#050511a
And you'll recall last night we did the live Nancy Reagan Tribute dinner...Well
in addition to Shuster's red carpet reportage, he and producer Christina
Jamison put together an awesome package with highlight's of last nights events,
just in case you weren't there (hey, I wasn't either)...Here's where the money
went: Ronald Reagan Memorial Foundation http://www.ronaldreaganmemorial.com/
Oh and of course, Katrina and Frum will slice and dice the Bolton hearings in
the E/F segment...
I don't think we'll get into this but it's still worth a read: Katrina: Bush's
iPod: Take Three http://www.thenation.com/blogs/edcut?bid=7
Tomorrow we'll chat with Mia Farrow and her son, Ronan, on their UNICEF work in
Darfur, Sudan...Mia Backgrounder:

Tonight will be too hot to miss...Please join us...
