This is one of those days where Chris comes into the office, doesn't even get
his overcoat off and begins pouring out his thoughts in our EP's office...Those
are the best kind of days because you know the more fired up he is, the better
the show will be...He went through his list of winners and losers in this
filibuster compromise agreement as fast as we could write them down...You'll
have to tune in tonight for his thoughts of course...It wouldn't be right to
give it all away beforehand.
We're doing two live shows to pack in all the slicin' and dicin': 7 & 9 pm
ET...Some of you sitting around home or watching TV at work may have seen Chris
and Norah doing some anchoring of the action in the Senate...By a vote of 81-18
cloture was just invoked on further debate on the nomination of Priscilla Owen,
assuring her confirmation..
We'll lead 7 pm ET with Biden, then we'll chat with Lott and get right wing
pressure group reax from Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and
"Justice Sunday" which has been calling for the end of the filibuster from day
one...He'll go head to head with National Organization for Women (a liberal
feminist group) Kim Gandy on the special interest group fallout
Pat & Hilary will do the 7p slice and dice in the E/F block (i.e. last quarter
hour)...
In the 9 pm hour we'll lead with Senator George Allen who is really
disappointed with the deal...We'll ask him why and what price guys like McCain
might pay for bucking the leadership and the conservative grassroots...
Nan Aron, head of the leftist pressure group "Alliance for Justice" will give
your spiel on why this is a bad deal..I'm going out on a big limb here but I
suspect she ain't too happy about Priscilla Owens's impending
confirmation...We'll put her on with uber-filibuster foe C. Boyden Gray
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/23/AR2005052301640.html
Not that it's all about the filibuster fight though, Shuster produced a package
on the future of the abortion debate...SCOTUS took the up the issue of parental
notification yesterday...
We'll even throw Washington Wiseman David Gergen in for good measure..

It's still early in the day so things may change and we might have a surprise
or two of course...
