The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Two big stories we're on tonight include the latest on the political and legal
maelstrom engulfing Washington over who leaked the name of Valerie Plame and
the announcement of Justice Sunday Part II (http://www.justicesunday.com/)
...And get this? Where is it going to be held...At the same place Hardball went
to last month in Nashville: Two Rivers Baptist Church...We'll talk to Tony
Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council which is putting the event
together and Ralph Neas, People For The American Way, who clearly isn't jazzed
by it...
On the leak front: a source close to the investigation says Rove got Plame's
name from Novak: Not the other way around...On the Hill yesterday sparks were
flying between Wilson & Schumer at one press conference and Bond, Coleman and
Hutchison on the other....Dueling legislation to strip Rove of his national
security clearance and Republican legislation to strip top Senate Dem leaders
of THEIR security clearances both failed...We'll bring you some flavor of the
fight with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) and Andrea Mitchell...
While Republicans and the White House won't comment on the ongoing
investigation, the RNC & Hill Republicans are convinced Rove is innocent...The
Dems seem to be unconcerned about straight legality here, they think Rove
should pay regardless of whether he broke the law or not...We're all over these
questions tonight...
On the journalistic front we'll talk to Dana Milbank, who has been covering the
food fight from day one and Byron York, resident White House Correspondent for
The National Review magazine...We may even throw in a question or two about the
Schwarzenegger controversy...
