            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Watching Hardball tonight, you'll be so inside President Bush's head that
you'll think you're in an Isaac Asimov novel. Not only will Chris talk with NBC
Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams about his exclusive and extensive interview
with the president, but also Chris will interview Karen Hughes, longtime
adviser to the president and current under secretary of state for public
diplomacy and public affairs. It's going to be huge!

Williams spent Monday with the president as he traveled to Philadelphia and
back for his latest speech on Iraq and terrorism. Williams was with the
president every step of the way -- inside the Oval Office, aboard Air Force
One, in the City of Brotherly Love, and back to the capital. You can read all
about the journey here on Williams' blog, the "Daily Nightly":
http://dailynightly.msnbc.com/.

An MSNBC special presentation called "Brian Williams Reports: A Day with the
President" airs tonight at 10 pm eastern. Hardball will have clips of Williams'
interview tonight and you can read a complete transcript of the interview here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10439994/.

As for Hughes, she is now in her fifth month on the job leading an effort "to
improve America's dialogue with the world," as described by the State
Department. Chris will discuss with her America's image in Arab nations,
reports of alleged Pentagon propaganda abroad, the state of the president's
inner circle, and much, much more. You must see it. Here's Hughes' bio as
presented by the State Department: http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/53692.htm.

By the way, Hardblogger Hill Insider Hilary Rosen thinks about the president's
mindset (and how Democrats might take advantage of it) here:

Plus, Chris will talk with Chicago Tribune reporter Stephen Hedges, who
co-wrote an article today about the U.S. paying a media firm big money to do
work for the Afghanistan government despite evidence that the Afghans didn't
want it! You can read the story here:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0512130124dec13,1,3302014.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true.

And you don't want to miss our update on the legal ticktock in the CIA Leak
Investigation. Attorneys Stan Brand, former counsel to the House of
Representatives, and Scott Fredericksen, a former special prosecutor, will be
here to explain where Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is headed...and
what could be next for White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove.
