            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

President Bush hit the road today in Nashville to echo some points he offered
last night in the State of the Union. Tonight on Hardball, Chris will talk more
about the president's speech and his post-speech plans with White House
Communications Director Nicolle Wallace. Here are the president's Music City
remarks and an MSNBC report on his trip:

Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) also will be here to offer his reaction to the
president's speech regarding the state of the war in Iraq. Murtha held a press
conference earlier today to refute the president's assessment of the war in
Iraq and the war against terrorism, saying that U.S. military forces are caught
in a civil war in Iraq that does not advance the cause of defeating terrorists.
Here's the text of the letter Murtha sent to the president today:

Treasurer Bob Casey, Jr., to keep his senate seat. Jay Carney, Washington
bureau chief for Time magazine, will also be here to talk about the candidates
and expected clashes in this race.

Plus, Tony Blankley, editor of the Washington Times editorial page, and Chris
Cillizza, author of "The Fix" on WashingtonPost.com, will discuss the other hot
races shaping up for 2006 and what they mean for the percolating presidential
prospects for 2008! Check out "The Fix" and Blankley's latest piece here:
