The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
It's time for a Hardball White House staff status round-up. President Bush:
deciding. Secretary Rumsfeld: staying. Chief Bolten: shuffling. Deputy Chief
Rove: adjusting. Spokesman McClellan: leaving.
Here's more on MSNBC.com: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12387465/.
As Washington bids adieu to the president's 33-month spokesman, speculation
flies about who will replace him and whether any other new (and/or familiar)
faces will surface in the West Wing. Tonight on Hardball, Chris will talk about
what's happening and what might happen with Dan Bartlett, counselor to the
president. NBC Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory also will join
Chris to talk about McClellan's departure and the state of the staff under the
new boss.
MSNBC Political Analysts Ron Reagan and Pat Buchanan also will be here to talk
about the president's inner circle and agenda. Plus, MSNBC Chief Washington
Correspondent Norah O'Donnell, Newsweek Chief Political Correspondent Howard
Fineman, and Rolling Stone National Affairs Editor Eric Bates will all be here
to talk about what's changing and what's staying the same within the Bush
Administration.
Is Rove's change in duties a demotion, as DNC Chair Howard Dean called it, or
is it a sign that the White House is worried enough about the midterm elections
that all of Rove's attention is needed to try to hold on to Congress? Check out
some of Fineman's thoughts on it here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12388020/.
