The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Put simply, it's a summer blockbuster edition of Hardball tonight. Chris talks
with Ed Gillespie, former boss of the Republican Party and current treasurer
for Sen. George Allen (R-VA)'s political action committee, about the politics
of Decision 2006 and beyond. President Bush attended a closed-press fundraiser
for Allen at Gillespie's house just last night!
Hardball's David Shuster will report on the latest political battles for the
White House in this midterm election year. The Washington Post has the latest
on Allen's now infamous remarks:

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
also plays Hardball tonight on Iraq and the politics of national security.
Biden writes in today's Washington Post about his proposal for Iraq, which
divides power among Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds, and calls for redeploying the
bulk of U.S. troops out of Iraq by the end of next year. Read it here:

Plus, MSNBC's own Pat Buchanan will be here to talk about his new book "State
of Emergency," which is the top seller on Amazon.com right now. Is America
really being invaded? Find out more about his book here:

And Hardball Political Analyst Bob Shrum will join Buchanan to battle it out
over midterm election politics. We're just 75 days until Election Day!
