The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
President Bush is on the Gulf Coast tonight to mark the anniversary of
Hurricane Katrina's devastating landfall one year ago. The blame game continues
in Louisiana, in Mississippi, on Capitol Hill, and across the country about why
things are moving slowly in the recovery effort. Tonight on Hardball, former
FEMA boss Mike Brown talks to Norah O'Donnell, MSNBC's chief Washington
correspondent who's sitting in for Chris, about what happened then, what's
happening now, and what would happen if another storm like Katrina hit us now.
The AP has more on the president's 13th trip to the Gulf Coast in the last
year: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14553389/.
Also tonight, Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT), just back from his 14th trip to Iraq,
will be here to explain why he's now in favor of a timetable for withdrawing
U.S. troops from Iraq. Once a staunch supporter of the war, Shays is now
questioning the president's advisers while he faces a tight race for
re-election. Here's more on Shays in Sunday's New York Times:

Plus, has Bob Novak's primary source been revealed? Newsweek's Chief
Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff will talk about his report in the
magazine, which teases his upcoming book "Hubris," detailing all of the
behind-the-scenes dealings in the CIA leak probe. Here's Isikoff's appetizer:

Novak himself wouldn't confirm or deny Isikoff's report on Sunday's "Meet the
Press" on NBC. Here's the transcript: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14452115/.
And Hardballers Tony Blankley of the Washington Times and Eugene Robinson of
the Washington Post will join Norah to break down the politics of Katrina,
Iraq, and much, much more!
By the way, don't miss Brian Williams' exclusive interview with President Bush
on Tuesday's "NBC Nightly News" from New Orleans on the one-year anniversary of
Katrina's destruction.
