The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, don't miss an exclusive Hardball special report. Sen. George Allen
has been plagued with accusations of racism. Hardball correspondent David
Shuster has an exclusive interview with a woman who claims to have witnessed
Allen using racial epithets in the late 1970's. She's the latest to accuse the
Senator of racism. David Shuster will join Chris with the complete story,
along with Newsweek's Howard Fineman and Matthew Continetti from The Weekly
Standard.
Then, we'll be joined by Craig Crawford, MSNBC political analyst and author of
"Attacking the Messenger" and Mike Allen, White House correspondent for Time
Magazine for more on Allen and Webb.

Plus, what started as a routine Halliburton supply delivery in Iraq turned
deadly after a wrong turn into insurgent territory. NBC's senior investigative
correspondent Lisa Myers reported the story last night. A truck driver who was
part of the convoy videotaped the attack from last September, then posted the
tape on an anti-Halliburton website, saying the convoy was not properly
equipped or trained. We'll see the tape, and MSNBC Military Analyst General
Barry McCaffrey will give us his insight into what went wrong.
One of the Halliburton contractors killed was from Iowa. The Des Moines
Register reports on the call for answers from two members of Iowa's
Congressional delegation:

Also tonight, some Democrats viewed it as a rally cry to the party. Fox News
Chief Roger Ailes is calling it an 'assault.' Did former President Bill
Clinton cross a line with the hot defense of his administration's attempts to
capture Osama bin Laden? Then, what about the line between serving the public
and serving the party? White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is now appearing
at GOP fundraisers; last night he was in Minnesota. The Hardballers are in the
house to hash it out. We'll talk all things politics with radio talk show host
Michael Smerconish, Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen and former Bush/Cheney
campaign counsel Ben Ginsberg.
As the midterm election nears, Sen. Hilary Clinton raises her profile. Tom
Curry, MSNBC.com national affairs writer and frequent Hardball contributor has

Plus, the Bill factor: How much are Dems counting on former President Bill
Clinton this November? The Chicago Tribune reports:
