The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball, we'll begin with our daily Battleground Iraq report.
NBC's Jane Arraf will have the latest on this violent month in Iraq. For more
on the subject, we'll turn to Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE). We'll get his response to
comments made by President Bush comparing Iraq to the 1968 Tet offensive in
Vietnam as well as leaks from the Iraq Study Group report due out next month.
With recent visits to Iowa and Georgetown University in Washington, DC, is
former President Bill Clinton taking on the role of Democratic
Campaigner-in-Chief? NBC's Kevin Corke reports on the Clinton effect this
midterm election and what role the former president will play in 2008. (Read a
web-exclusive commentary from Newsweek on Clinton and the upcoming election
here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15320107/site/newsweek/.) For more analysis
we'll turn to Joe Lockhart and Mark McKinnon, co-founders of Hotsoup.com, the
new online political community launched today.
Then, as Election Day nears, we'll bring in MSNBC Political Analysts Pat
Buchanan and Bob Shrum for hot talk on the latest NBC/WSJ poll, Iraq, Bush,
Foley and how things are shaping up in the Hardball Hot Races. What will it
all mean on November 7? We'll ask Buchanan and Shrum.
And with Decision 2006 just around the corner, Decision 2008 is the next big
question. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is the news this week, appearing on Oprah
and on the cover of Time Magazine. Is a presidential run in the works? We'll
hear from The Washington Post's Political Editor John Harris, co-author of "The
Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008," with ABC News' Political Director
Mark Halperin.
Plus, learn something new every day. Noah Oppenheim, co-author of "The
Intellectual Devotional" and former Hardball executive producer will be here to
tell us about his New York Times bestselling book. Read an excerpt from "The
Intellectual Devotional" here http://msnbc.msn.com/id/15189437/.
