The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Today, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post join the conservative
chorus calling for a presidential pardon for Scooter Libby. Meanwhile,
Democratic leaders call on President Bush to pledge he will not issue a pardon.
We'll have the debate tonight on Hardball, but up first, the latest from NBC
Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, who's been reporting all week from Baghdad.
Then, Hardball goes inside the CIA leak trial - Chris will have an exclusive
interview with Libby juror Ann Redington. Before Scooter Libby was convicted
of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to the FBI, what went on behind
the jury room doors? And would the outcome have been different if Libby - or
his boss, Vice President Dick Cheney - took the stand?
The National Review is one of the publications demanding a Libby pardon. Kate
O'Beirne is the Washington editor, she'll be here with MSNBC contributor Mike
Barnicle, for more on the pardon debate.
And Scooter Libby was found guilty, but was he covering for the Vice President?
Is there a rift growing between the Bush and Cheney camps? Newsweek's Howard
Fineman and New York Daily News Washington Bureau Chief Tom DeFrank will be
here to talk about the atmosphere in the White House. Read the latest from
Fineman here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17484887/site/newsweek/.
Then, what are the lessons of the Libby verdict? We'll talk about it with our
roundtable: Slate's John Dickerson, Opinionjournal.com's John Fund and Jill
Zuckman of the Chicago Tribune. Read the latest from Dickerson here:
