            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Breaking news tonight: NBC News received video and a multi-page statement from
the Virginia Tech shooter between the first and second shootings and
immediately turned the materials over to authorities. We'll have the latest
tonight on Hardball at 5 and 7 PM EST.

Plus, Chris talks to Cho's college roommate, Karan Grewal, and Virginia Tech
student Lindsay Hughes, a friend of one of the victims. Who was Cho Seung Hui,
the student accused of murdering 32 people in the deadliest shooting rampage in
U.S. history?

Then, did Virginia Tech do everything possible to protect its students?
According to police, Cho had been previously accused of stalking two female
students and at one point had been sent to a mental health facility. We'll be
joined by Dr. Bernadine Healy, former director of the National Institutes of
Health and author of "Living Time," and later, Jack Thompson, the attorney who
represented the families of the Paducah School victims. Thompson calls this
attack the "9/11" of school shootings and says that violent video games - which
Cho is said to have played - are to blame.

And on Capitol Hill today, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 to uphold a
national ban on partial birth abortions. We'll talk about the debate with Kate
O'Beirne, Washington Editor National Review and Washington Post columnist E. J
Dionne.
