Tonight on Hardball, is the war on terror coming closer to home?
On Monday, six men - described by federal officials as "Islamic militants" -
were arrested after allegedly planning to attack a U.S. military base in New
Jersey. Federal officials said the suspects wanted to "kill as many soldiers
as possible." We'll talk about the foiled plot with President Bush's homeland
security advisor Fran Townsend.
But first tonight, the latest on the war in Iraq. As the battle on the ground
gets worse, the war of words in on Capitol Hill continues to rage. Can the
White House and Congress agree on a plan? And will the troop escalation make a
difference in the field? We'll hear from Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott
(R-MS) and talk more about the ongoing debate in Washington with Reps. Anna
Eshoo (D-CA) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
Later in the show, we'll hash through all the big news of the day, including
'08 and the Vice President's visit to the Middle East with our power panel of
reporters: the Des Moines Register's David Yepsen, and the Washington Post's
Lois Romano and Jonathan Capehart.
Plus, pain at the pump - will gas prices continue to rise or is relief on the
way? Hardball's money man, Jim Cramer of CNBC's Mad Money, will be here to
talk about that.
