            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball -

What's going on with the economy? The stock market is on a wild ride: after
sinking another 300 points earlier today, the dow rebounded. Housing prices
are dropping, and American credit use is over the top. What can Washington do?
Chris gets the latest on the economy from Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's "Mad
Money." It's the story everyone's talking about and you'll want to hear what
Cramer has to say tonight.

Then, worth the wait? News emerges in Washington that the White House will be
writing the September progress report on Iraq - the report the country has been
waiting for - not Gen. David Petraeus. The White House is also suggesting that
Petraeus limit his testimony to a private congressional briefing instead of
speaking publicly before Congress. Will Americans get the real story on the
situation in Iraq? We'll hear from Iraq veteran Paul Hackett and radio talk
show host Mark Williams.

Plus, should they do it? O.J. Simpson's book, detailing how the former
football great "would have" murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, is
set to be published this fall by Goldman's family, despite bitter opposition
from the Browns. We'll hear from Goldman family attorney Peter Haven and
former prosecutor and victims advocacy lawyer Wendy Murphy in tonight's
Hardball Debate.

And our Hardball Roundtable: Jim Warren from the Chicago Tribune,
TownHall.com's Amanda Carpenter, and L.A. radio talk show host and civil rights
attorney Leo Terrell will have more on all today's news, and Chris will give us
his top five hot politics stories for this August afternoon in Washington.
