The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Can Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) be the "comeback kid" of the 2008 Presidential
election?
Recent polls have shown an up tick for this former frontrunner and his
supporters are now hoping for a surprise win in the early primary states.
Tonight we'll hear from McCain and his 95-year old mother Roberta, who's joined
him out on the campaign trail in New Hampshire this week.
Then, NBC's Richard Engel is on the ground in Islamabad -- he'll bring you the
latest on the unrest in Pakistan and Fmr. Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's house
arrest earlier today. The Washington Post's Robin Wright and Fmr. CIA Officer
Bob Baer will also be on hand for analysis on what impact these events could
have on America's war on terror.
We'll then recap the week in politics and look ahead in our roundtable
discussion with NBC's David Gregory, the Washington Post's Anne Kornblut, and
Atlantic Media's Ron Brownstein, author of the new book, "The Second Civil War."
Plus, everyday this week during the 7pm ET edition of the show we've brought
you the Hardball Power Rankings, where we've ranked the '08 candidates we think
most likely to win their party's nomination. Tonight at 7pm, we'll put it all
together and tell you who we think stands the best chance of becoming the next
President of the United States. Don't miss it!
