            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Are early supporters of military action in Iraq now trying to rewrite history?

Fmr. President Bill Clinton, fmr. Bush adviser Karl Rove and Sen. John McCain
(R-AZ) have all made comments in the past week distancing themselves from the
conduct of the Iraq war. Are they setting the record straight or trying to
curry favor with an anti-war electorate? Hardball's David Shuster will report
on their statements and we'll hear from New York Times columnist Bob Herbert
and Peter Beinart from the Council on Foreign Relations for more on Iraq and
2008.

Then, with polls showing the '08 Republican race tightening, the candidates are
set for a showdown at tonight's CNN/YouTube GOP debate. NBC News director Chuck
Todd will tell us what to expect. We'll also bring you the latest polling and
analysis on that race with Dan Gilgoff, Politics Editor for Beliefnet.com, and
Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody later on in the show.

Plus, how did Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) respond to a supporter's claim that he has
not adequately challenged his rivals? And who is the last man standing in the
group of "singing Senators?"

We'll have these stories and more in our roundtable discussion with
Townhall.com's Amanda Carpenter, Newsweek's Holly Bailey and Salon's Joan Walsh.
