The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, host Chris Matthews hits the '08 trail in New Hampshire for an inside
look at Fmr. Sen. John Edwards (D-NC)'s campaign. With polls showing Edwards
holding strong in Iowa, can he pull off an upset win in the nation's first
caucus?
Next, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Fmr. Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) have rode a
wave of momentum this week while Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) has struggled to
regain his lead in Iowa. We'll talk to Huckabee campaign manager Chip Saltzman,
senior Romney adviser Barbara Comstock and senior McCain adviser Charlie Black
about their plans to finish strong.
With just 16 days until Iowans head to the polls, the battle on the ground for
votes has intensified. Hardball's David Shuster will report on the latest
campaign activity and then Radio Iowa news director Kay Henderson and the
Washington Post's Anne Kornblut will give you their notes from Des Moines, IA.
Plus, how is Clinton supporter Bob Kerrey responding to criticism of his
remarks on Obama's heritage? And what role would Fmr. Pres. George H. W. Bush
supposedly play in a Clinton administration?
We'll break down these stories and more in our Politics Fix with the Chicago
Tribune's Jill Zuckman, the Washington Post's Jonathan Capehart and Jennifer
Donahue from the NH Institute of Politics.
