Kevin -- We could put it on DVD-R, and I am thinking about moving to that format later this year. But what defines sexy for VistA? Is it a great healthcare information system demo or is an attractive screen background, OpenOffice, games, etc.? So far, I have been leaning in the latter direction, but could be persuaded that the former is important.
Captive-NTFS is included in Open VistA. However it doesn't really work well yet for VistA. I know Jan Kratochvil, the developer of Captive-NTFS, and spent time with him in Prague recently. Captive-NTFS is ingenious, and will become more useful in the future to VistA once some other changes make their way into the Linux kernel. But for now, it is not very usable. An alternative to a USB drive is to create a partition on your hard drive formatted with a a Linux file system. (Incidentally, a ball-point pen with a 256MB USB flash drive is now down to around $30 - and I paid $60 for the same thing just 6 months ago.
