Obviously, even the open sourcerers benefit from a broader market. I agree that we'd all benefit from a more visible Cache presence here. There is a lot of Cache experience, of course. (Tom Ackerman comes to mind... And the whole VA, come to think of it!)
My own roots are heavy with Micronetics M, with licenses from Intersystems when they acquired MSM. I remember a lot of sadness with Micronetic's passing. But that was business and not the stuff of real animosity. (Speaking for myself.) Personally, I am trying to leave <<Microsoft>> in my own dust (while using it daily :-). That is what led me to take Cache off my XP partition recently; to save space for coLinux/gtm/vista. (Cache's single user license prevented telnet & CPRS across across the ethernet; so that also has made gtm more attractive.) Unfortunately I found the Linux/Cache learning curve too steep when I first attempted Cache under Mandrake so I've gravitated toward gtm. Finally, we have the open source movement. The vision of an affordable openVista available worldwide will put some of us firmly in the gtm camp or anywhere else that the world can afford. Finally, finally, I would mention Bhaskar. He's no one's enemy. But he has done a SUPERB job bringing open source gtm to us and supporting it to the hilt. Very difficult to compete with that, I think. regards to us all, jlz Healthcare, a human right. ---------- Original Message ----------- From: "James Gray" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Mon, 20 Dec 2004 10:57:21 -0700 Subject: Re: [Hardhats-members] Intersystems > I will put it stronger.
