Health information technology will transform the practice of medicine. For
example, the rapid implementation of secure and interoperable electronic health
records would significantly improve the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness
of health care.

To implement this vision, we are requesting $125 million. $75 million will go
to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
